Leeds United have a busy summer ahead at Elland Road, with a number of major decisions to be undertaken on the playing squad and behind the scenes as well.
Daniel Farke’s future has been resolved and Paraag Marathe has admitted he fell in love with Leeds’ boss, but more of the 49ers making lots of correct decisions behind the scenes is needed after they nailed recruitment decisions off the pitch last year.
It was the second summer in a row which became difficult to navigate after losing Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville, and Archie Gray for big-money fees. The likes of Angus Kinnear and Nick Hammond were joined by Jordan Miles and Gretar Steinsson in a big restructuring process for Leeds.
This summer should be less chaotic but still plenty busy, and how much Leeds can spend is still up for debate after £250 million claims have been made but the club can look ahead and begin their planning for the 2025/26 campaign.

Kinnear’s departure from Leeds confirmed at Companies House
It’s an exciting time for the club heading into the next transfer window, with Farke bringing new life to Leeds these last few weeks, and Marathe outlining how he wants Leeds competing in Europe. To do that, they will need a new stadium, with Adam Pope providing the latest on Elland Road expansion plans.
With the city riding a high, and Leeds transfer rumours in full swing, there has already been a confirmed departure in recent days. More will come with a number of Leeds players needing new contracts or to be released in the coming weeks.
The first departure is one which has been spoken of for a while, with Kinnear’s employment at Leeds now ending for him to take up a role with Everton, as shown in the reveal below from football finance expert Kieran Maguire.
Leeds needing to choose their next steps carefully after Kinnear’s departure was confirmed by Marathe a few months back. That’s especially true as Kinnear could take Hammond to Everton with him and further officials are expected to leave Leeds this summer and potentially get poached.
Everton fans did not take the Kinnear news well when it was first revealed he could be joining the club, but Kinnear is ‘respected’ by many at Elland Road and leaves a gap to eventually get filled by the hierarchy at some stage.

Leeds’ recent restructuring, including Adam Underwood’s role
The recent changes behind the scenes have seen Robbie Evans promoted to Managing Director, having joined the club as Chief Strategy Officer in 2023. Evans now oversees the club’s recruitment and football analytics departments.
Adam Underwood has been promoted to Sporting Director, having been at the club for over a decade in roles including Academy Manager and Head of Football Operations prior to that. However, these are internal promotions and not new hires.
The team is perhaps a little more streamlined now, with Steinsson, Kinnear, and Miles all moving on after initially undertaking a difficult situation. There have been further changes with Chief Operating Officer Morrie Eisenberg promoted to Chief Business Officer as well.
The other major change is that Finance Director Fay Greer has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer. It’s not clear yet if there are more changes to come, but Leeds must be joined up in their thinking and processes if they are to pull together a competitive Premier League team this summer.
