Leeds United celebrated promotion in style against Bristol City, which made it their fourth hammering of the week to their visitors at Elland Road.
The title remains up for grabs via a win against Plymouth Argyle today, but they have not been as strong on their travels this season. At home, 10 goals without reply have come with Daniel Farke’s side motoring towards the title.

The Whites end the season with the best home record in the division by a distance after winning their 18th match of the campaign at Elland Road but a trip to Devon won’t be so simple to navigate, even for a team in such scinitllating form.
Bristol City were perhaps overawed by the intense and intimidating party atmosphere in West Yorkshire but Farke’s side put in the performance of champions on their way to a second title in five years. Both Leeds and Burnley can reach 100 points this weekend, too.

Three players who Leeds should be extending the contracts of this summer
Irrespective of the outcome of today’s game, the Whites can begin planning for life back in the top flight. They have been able to with two games to spare, with results going their way over the Easter Weekend and that has given them a head start for 2025/26.
After losing Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter, and Crysencio Summerville, there were no guarantees that they would be able to build a squad capable of competing again. Now, they must make up the gap with smart recruitment this summer, with it growing all the time between the Championship and the Premier League.
Over the coming weeks and months, Leeds will have to make a number of major decisions regarding transfers but also on current players. Here, we take a look at three players Farke and co. should be looking to wrap up new deals for as soon as possible with the Premier League in mind.
Dan James
Of all the players entering the final 12 months of their deals at Elland Road, Dan James is the one who most needs to be tied down to fresh terms to ensure his future is in West Yorkshire.
The 27-year-old winger has had the best season of his career and is one of the key players in Farke’s side. He appears to be in love with the club and the supporters and warrants an extension.
James was one of the three nominees for Championship Player of the Season and has hit another gear in 2024/25. Leeds must not be in a position where they could lose him for nothing in 12 months’ time.
Ethan Ampadu
The former Chelsea youngster is already two years into a four-year deal with Leeds and is surely on the club’s priority list for an extension, given his quality and dependability.
The epitome of consistency and a valued member of the dressing room as club captain, Ethan Ampadu is one of the players who looks most likely to make the step up to top flight football next season.
Leeds are in less of a rush with Ampadu as they are with James, but he is someone who deserves to be rewarded for his efforts with an extension. The Welsh defensive midfielder is versatile and can operate at centre-back but is surely a player to build around aged just 24.
Pascal Struijk
Pascal Struijk is underrated and underappreciated by many in the fanbase, but he has been excellent since relegation when he is available. The Dutchman is also vice-captain and his influence as a leader is seemingly growing all the time.
He turns 26 this summer and is very much entering the prime years of his career, but Struijk has just two years left on his deal — which has to be a concern. Of course, in PSR terms, he is an obvious sale but his quality is undeniable.
Whether he is a starter or a squad player next season is perhaps questioned by some but Struijk absolutely needs to have his terms extended beyond 2027 to protect him as an asset or tie his future tighter to a club he has been with for over seven years now.

Out of contract Leeds United players should be released
On top of the players Leeds can deem as good enough, the inverse is also something to decide on. Almost all of the players out of contract this summer should fall into that, which includes the likes of Josuha Guilavogui and Sam Byram.
Both of them would mean losing vast experience from the squad, but Leeds need new leaders for 2025/26 and neither should have their contract renewed. It means that the only one who is worth considering is the future of Leeds’ specialist left-back, Junior Firpo.
He has been outstanding this season, but his injury record and his disappointment last time out in the top flight are sure to be aspects of concern. However the 28-year-old has been one of Leeds key players, especially as a vital component of the attack.
In other ways, it could be argued that leaving on a high after two fantastic years is best for Firpo’s reputation with Leeds. It would be a fitting end to his Leeds chapter. Leeds should maybe be considering losing all of the players out of contract this summer.
