With another season put to bed, it’s been a major success for Leeds United.

Plaudits will be given to Daniel Farke and the players, but the 49ers deserve their praise after conducting their business behind the scenes.

It’s clear that Paraag Marathe believes in Farke after retaining his position as manager, with the hope that success can continue in the Premier League.

However, the brutal reality of football is that Leeds will have to sell players, and Marathe has promised that will happen.

But another promise he made stands out above all in an exciting future for Leeds.

Paraag Marathe’s promise to Leeds United fans at title parade

With Marathe himself gearing up for a big summer, his attendance at Leeds’ title parade will have given him the outlook of exactly what it means for the Whites to taste glory.

This will only spur him on with the project at hand, with that being cementing Leeds as a top-eight Premier League club.

This certainly won’t be a short-term fix as next season will provide major obstacles, as Marathe will be hoping to end the trend of newly-promoted teams suffering relegation.

But it’s clear he’s even more ambitious then Leeds fans once thought, as Marathe has now made a promise the Whites faithful will have to hold him to.

Speaking during the parade, Marathe said: “I hope I never forget this moment, but this is the journey, and this is not the end. We are going to be one of the best clubs in Europe.”

Marathe may have to aim higher after £100m claim at Leeds

With the ambition from the hierarchy clearly in place, the 49ers enterprises president has a business mind but now he has a football mind.

It seems like Leeds have been put as a major focus in his eyes and he has shown that clear passion to progress the Whites as a footballing outfit.

He is willing to break the bank in the top flight as Marathe wants to spend £100m at Leeds in a clear sign of intent.

But after the recently relegated sides also spent £100m, he may have to aim higher to find the goal he is looking for, and should take inspiration from Nottingham Forest, who have spent more than £360m since returning to the Premier League.
