Bartlomiej Dragowski has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Leeds United this month and a new report says Leeds will bid if Illan Meslier leaves in the coming weeks – which seems unlikely.
Dragowski, 26, was seen as one of Serie A’s best goalkeepers a few years ago. Starring for Fiorentina, the Poland giant was even linked with Inter. But he went to Spezia in 2022, alongside Ethan Ampadu.
He failed to keep Spezia in Serie A last season and it has seen his stock fall further, sticking with the relegated side in Serie B. Now, he has even lost his place in the side and Spezia are keen to sell him.
They have even identified the £3.2m signing’s replacement, in Leonardo Loria. Leeds and Championship rivals Hull – who beat Leeds to the signing of Fabio Carvalho – are said to be keen on signing Dragowski.
Now, Football Transfers reporter Dominik Schneider has taken to Twitter to deliver an update. He says that Hull have pulled out of a move for Dragowski because of his £16,500-a-week wages, after tax.

Schneider, though, says it is a ‘different story’ at Leeds who might make a move for Dragowski as they are able to afford him. But, Leeds will only a move for Dragowski, if they end up selling no.1 Meslier.
The Frenchman has often been linked with the exit door at Leeds – with Celta Vigo keen in the summer and since, both Bayern and Inter are keeping tabs on Meslier. But it seems unlikely he will be leaving.
However, Leeds are preparing for a possible exit this month if a big clubs does come in for Meslier – and will retaliate by lining up Dragowski, according to Schneider. He will certainly give Leeds a big saving.
