Club already eyeing replacement for their £3.2m player, after claims he could join Leeds United

Leeds United are keen on a surprise deal for goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski and his club Spezia are now preparing for the Polish international’s exit this month – identifying a replacement for him.

Dragowski, 26, has watched his stock fall over the last couple of years. Starring for Fiorentina, he lost his place in La Viola’s side and joined Spezia in 2022, remaining in Italy’s top tier, for a total fee of £3.2m.

But he, alongside Ethan Ampadu, failed to keep Spezia in Serie A – suffering relegation. Dragowski has remained, meaning a player of his large calibre is currently playing in the second tier of Italian football.

That has attracted interest from a number of European sides. Reports this week state that Leeds are one of those clubs keen, as are Hull City. Bundesliga clubs also want him, as do Ligue 1 side Rennes.

Dragowski is keen on an exit as he wants to book his place in Poland’s Euro 2024 squad and a move to a bigger club helps him do that. The English Championship is a whole lot more competitive than Serie B.

Spezia pick replacement for Leeds target Bartlomiej Dragowski

Now, a boost for Leeds. Calcio Spezia claim the second-tier outfit are preparing for Dragowski’s exit and have identified the perfect replacement, in the form of Pisa’s Leonardo Loria, who’s warming the bench.

Indeed, Dragowski has lost his place in Spezia’s side to experienced Dutch stopper Jeroen Zoet and Spezia feel they just need to bring in a younger back-up goalkeeper to replace Dragowski on the bench.

Selling Dragowski would allow Spezia to save money on wages, even if they do sign Loria. He continues to be mentioned as a replacement for Dragowski with Spezia seemingly keen to sell the Polish ace.
