Bartlomiej Dragowski has emerged as a surprise target for Leeds United despite the Whites being well-equipped between the sticks – a player that was top of Inter Milan’s transfer shortlist in 2021.

Dragowski, 26, was starring for Fiorentina back in the 2020-21 season and still incredibly young for a goalkeeper, he was catching the eye. Starring in the top tier of Italy for one of the league’s best clubs.

But these days, things have gone downhill for the two-time Poland star. Losing his place in Fiorentina’s side, he joined Spezia for £3.2m – alongside Ethan Ampadu. They could not prevent relegation in 22-23.

Ampadu was only on loan and returned to Chelsea before Leeds bought him. Dragowski has remained at Spezia, and the stopper has now lost his starting spot in the side – to Dutch goalkeeper Jereon Zoet.

Leeds, Hull, Rennes and Bundesliga clubs are all interested in Dragowski. Spezia are keen to sell, and have identified a replacement in the form of Leonardo Loria. He could be a surprise addition at Leeds.

Leeds target Bartlomiej Dragowski was Inter’s first choice in 2021

Illan Meslier’s form has been questionable this season, and has been banned for three games. Karl Darlow could be out for as much as seven weeks, Daniel Farke confirmed in Friday’s press conference.

It means Kris Klaesson will play against Peterborough on Sunday, Dani van den Heuvel on the bench. But even with Meslier and Darlow out, you would still imagine a goalkeeper signing is unlikely this month.

However, if Leeds do move for Dragowski – they would be signing a goalkeeper that just two and a half years ago, was top of the list for Inter Milan, according to a report from Sempre Inter back in 2021.
