Daniel Farke and Leeds United will be hoping they can find more deals like Georginio Rutter this summer.

The Frenchman got off to a rocky start in his first season at Elland Road, but turned it around in the 23/24 season.

23 goal contributions in the Championship got Leeds to the playoffs, but unfortunately, as soon as Daniel Farke’s side lost in the final to Southampton, it was destined that Rutter would leave.

Indeed he did, joining Brighton for £40m, with the Seagulls activating his release clause.

Rutter’s exit was a big ‘disappointment’, but Leeds will meet the 23-year-old next season, along with some new players in their squad, as Rutter has given transfer targets some advice.

Georginio Rutter sends subtle message to Leeds United transfer targets

The Brighton forward has come into his own on the south coast as he flourished in his first campaign under Fabian Hurzeler.

Whites fans would’ve expected this after his stellar form the season before, and will look forward to seeing the Frenchman again.

His form has certainly caught the eye, as Chelsea are interested in Rutter, and his success story at Elland Road has taken him a long way.

This has brought Rutter to speak out on his development at Leeds and has seemingly encouraged any current transfer targets to make the jump to Yorkshire, using his journey as inspiration.

Speaking to Brighton’s website, Rutter said: “When you play for Leeds, there is a big pressure to win every game and you have to give them (the fans) something back.

“So when I came here, I was more ready and able to carry on that mentality. It helped me a lot having already played for a big club and having gone there for a big fee.

“My first season there was not great, but the second season was much better. I felt freer given my form had turned around, and I have been able to continue that way since I came here.”

49ers need to look for Rutter-like signings at Leeds

Looking at the 23-year-old’s rise up the ladder, his £35.5m arrival certainly brought uncertainty.

This rose after his poor start with Leeds, but the following season showed exactly what he was all about.

Although they only gained a £5m profit, the Whites should be proud of determining Rutter to be worthy of his fee after a fairly solid tenure at Hoffenheim.

It’s become clear that Leeds’ strategy will have Farke’s input, and should the Bundesliga be explored again, they could find their next Rutter.

Signs are certainly pointing to this happening with Leeds wanting Weigl, and the masterstroke of acquiring Rutter could be repeated once again.
