Georginio Rutter would’ve made a stunning option for Daniel Farke at Leeds United this season.

Rutter’s departure sent a shockwave through Leeds as the Frenchman had just one season at Elland Road.

Despite the one season, Rutter has Leeds memorabilia as the forward will always remember the Whites.

Now at Brighton, Rutter has garnered interest from Chelsea; it would be an incredible step-up.

It looks like a meeting between Leeds and the 23-year-old is set to happen next season either way, but his heartbreaking exit from the club has now been revealed in more detail.

Fresh update on Georginio Rutter’s exit from Leeds United

It’s clear that the young forward is a talent in the Premier League.

The £40m deal in the summer now looks like a great piece of business from the Seagulls as Fabian Hurzeler’s men look to double his price-tag.

What helps this fact is Pep Guardiola praising Rutter, as Man City might even consider the Frenchman.

But Whites fans would never have wanted to see his exit, and now The Athletic have revealed exactly how it went down at Thorp Arch in dramatic circumstances.

Rutter’s exit, according to multiple sources, was the ‘biggest disappointment’ of the summer.

With the £40m release clause at play, Leeds did not believe Brighton would see good value in a move for Rutter after one decent season in the second tier. But they were wrong.

Leeds were desperate for Rutter to stay, and ‘appeals’ were made from the top of the club down to staff at Thorp Arch.

The Frenchman was seen as a potential ‘difference-maker’, but unfortunately his exit was described as a ‘tearful’ goodbye.

Rutter will always have a place back at Leeds

It seems the fans resonate with Rutter’s feelings, as it was no doubt a sad departure.

23 goal contributions in the Championship was a brilliant feat as the Whites would still have the 23-year-old in their ranks had they won the play-off final last year.

His ‘tearful’ exit comes as no surprise with Rutter sending a heartfelt message to the Leeds support when he left Elland Road.

The forward was that connected to the club after one campaign that even Coventry City thought Rutter still played for Leeds.

He’s moved on to bigger and better things, but there is no way fans wouldn’t welcome him back with open arms.
