So far this summer, Leeds United have spent well, but Daniel Farke hasn’t broken the bank for any single player as of yet.
Going into this summer, reports revealed that Leeds United have a £150million transfer budget for new players.
And so far, Leeds United have signed six new players, but Daniel Farke hasn’t gone beyond the £20million mark for any one player yet, with the likes of Jaka Bjol joining Leeds United in a £15million deal, Sean Longstaff too, whilst Anton Stach signed for £17million and Gabriel Gudmundsson for £10million. Meanwhile, Sebastiaan Bornauw cost just £5million.
It’s shrewd business so far from the club, and it needed to be, with Leeds United needing to bolster multiple positions on the pitch going into the summer, and even still, with a new goalkeeper and more attacking additions needed. But it looks like Farke has solved the goalkeeper conundrum with Lucas Perri.
Reports state that Leeds are set to sign Perri from Lyon in a near £20million (£15.6million plus add-ons) deal very soon.

Leeds United still have money to spend after Lucas Perri
Posting on X, Leeds United journalist James Marshment has commented on the Perri signing and where it leaves Leeds United in the transfer market. Earlier this month, it was reported that Leeds United will now target attacking signings, specifically with a new No.10, a new striker, and a new winger on Farke’s wish list.
Marshment suggests that we could see three more signings arriving at Elland Road this summer, all in the attacking department. Farke may also need to replace Mateo Joseph who has handed in a transfer request, so four attacking additions may be needed.
Excitingly, Marshment suggests that Leeds United still have a lot of money to spend in the transfer market. Amid the seemingly imminent signing of Perri, it goes in line with Farke’s managed spending so far this summer, keeping individual signings below the £20million mark (or in Perri’s case, at the £20million mark) and leaving plenty of money left for new signings.
The latest on Perri is that the French goalkeeper is jetting into the UK to undergo medical tests at Thorp Arch. He’ll replace Illan Meslier in the No.1 position and the 2020 signing from Lorient now looks set to leave the club after his horrendous 2024/25 season in the Championship.

How much Leeds United have left to spend after the Lucas Perri signing?
Last season, Leeds United won the Championship title in triumphant fashion. The Whites amassed 100 points and finished a whole 10 points ahead of Sheffield United, who stumbled into 3rd.
But despite their dominant showing last season, Leeds fans will be wary of the threat of the Premier League, given the fact that the last six promoted teams have all come down after just one season in the top flight.
Then hearing news of a £150million transfer budget may have left many wondering whether that was enough. It was no secret that Leeds United needed many signings across the side in a bid to get them ready for the Premier League.
And at the start of the summer, there were reports of Leeds United being linked with £30-40million players. But so far, credit is due to Farke. He has limited the spending on individual signings and has so far stocked up the team nicely in both defence and midfield, and soon in goal.
Should Perri arrive at Elland Road for £20million, then Leeds United will have £70million left to spend.
With three attacking additions expected and rumours of Leeds United signing Igor Paixao for £30million, it leaves Farke with plenty enough to bolster the side and it should give fans plenty of hope going into the new Premier League season.
