Reports have emerged stating that Leeds United are among the teams in negotiations to sign Sheffield United midfielder Gustavo Hamer this summer.
Gustavo Hamer was last season’s Championship Player of the Season with an impressive 10 goals and eight assists in 44 league games for the Blades, who lost the Championship play-off final to Sunderland in dramatic fashion.
After that, it now looks inevitable that Hamer leaves Bramall Lane this summer. New Sheffield United manager Ruben Selles hasn’t ruled out Hamer leaving the club, and reports have consistently backed Leeds United to make a move for the 28-year-old this summer.
Then, on Thursday, reports in the Netherlands revealed that Leeds United are in negotiations to sign Hamer this summer.
Dutch side PSV remain interested, and whilst Hamer would prefer a move to the Premier League this summer, it is thought that neither Leeds United nor fellow interested side Burnley are preferable options for the midfielder right now.

Graeme Bailey comments on Leeds United’s pursuit of Gustavo Hamer
Providing some clarity on the matter, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has spoken to Leeds United News about what is really going on with Hamer at Sheffield United. Like with the reports coming out of the Netherlands, Bailey has confirmed that Leeds have held talks with Hamer, also adding that he has held talks with Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven over a move to the Eredivisie this summer.
However, Bailey adds that nothing is imminent right now, although he says it is clear that Hamer wants to leave Sheffield United this summer and likely will do. Bailey said: “Hamer is assessing his options, he has had talks with Leeds and PSV Eindhoven – but I am told nothing is imminent, but it is clear he wants to leave Sheffield United this summer and will.”

Gustavo Hamer arrival could be the end of one Leeds United player
Despite Daniel Farke recently saying that Leeds United’s midfield is almost complete this summer following the signings of Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach from Hoffenheim, it looks likely that we will see a number 10 signing arriving at Elland Road this summer.
Previous reports stated that Leeds still want to sign a number 10 this summer and Hamer certainly fits the bill. However, Hamer arriving at Thorp Arch would not be good news for Brenden Aaronson. The USMNT player scored nine goals last season, assisting twice as he featured in all 46 of Leeds’ Championship games.
However, Leeds fans were not impressed with Aaronson’s performances and it’s widely agreed among supporters that Leeds and Farke need to upgrade Aaronson this summer in what is a key position on the pitch.
Hamer has shown his quality in the Premier League before with Sheffield United and whilst he certainly looks like an active target for the Whites, there remains growing uncertainty over whether he will actually move to Leeds this summer or move to PSV Eindhoven instead.
