It is no secret that Leeds United want to sign Sheffield United playmaker Gustavo Hamer and have tried to do so in previous windows during Daniel Farke’s reign.
This summer feels like Leeds’ best chance of finally landing the Sheffield United ace, who was named the winner of the Championship Player of the Season award after being nominated alongside Dan James.
Sheffield United have failed to go up and Chris Wilder has been sacked, while Leeds have won the title and will now look to break the trend of promoted clubs being relegated, one of which involved Hamer.
Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that he expects Leeds to sign either Hamer or Emi Buendia this summer and now, the Brazil-born playmaker has handed Leeds a massive boost in their pursuit of a deal.

Gustavo Hamer stance emerges on PSV interest this summer
It emerged last week that Leeds are not the only side interested in signing Hamer from Sheffield United this summer. Indeed, PSV Eindhoven are also keen on Hamer, having qualified for the Champions League.
It seems then, that if Leeds are to go after Hamer again – after Daniel Farke saw a £13m bid rejected for Hamer in 2024 – they will need to beat PSV to his signing. Well, there is an update on the race for Hamer.
Indeed, Dutch outlet SoccerNews.nl say that Hamer prefers a move to the Premier League over PSV despite the latter qualifying for the Champions League. It is a huge boost for Leeds in the race for Hamer.

How much Sheffield United are requesting for Hamer’s signature
There is clearly an interest in Leeds, from Hamer. Hamer was actually spotted at Elland Road earlier in the season, with Sheffield United basically admitting Leeds’ bid last summer had unsettled the playmaker.
Indeed, having already signed Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United, the Blades tried to get their own back by unsettling Joel Piroe. They put out fake reports saying Leeds had included Piroe in a bid for Hamer.
Well, that went well. Leeds won promotion and Piroe won the golden boot. Reports say Sheffield United want a fee of £18m for Hamer who has two years left on his contract. Attainable for The Whites, then.
