Leeds United are closing on their seventh summer signing with the addition of Lyon goalkeeper Lucas Perri, and a fee for his arrival is now being reported.

Anton Stach’s confirmation this week saw Leeds complete a sixth summer signing and with the German’s arrival, Adam Underwood had completed his work in the middle of the park, and with the Leeds defence.

Gabriel Gudmundsson replaces Junior Firpo, Sebastiaan Bornauw provides the cover lost after Max Wober left for Werder Bremen and Jaka Bijol fills a void left often by Pascal Struijk, when the Dutchman is injured.

In midfield, Leeds have added Stach and Sean Longstaff with Daniel Farke now boasting five top-quality midfielders to choose from. Leeds were still prioritising a new goalkeeper, a left-winger and a striker.

How much Leeds have already spent this summer, so far

Lukas Nmecha has also arrived to provide competition up front, and he scored his first goal on Tuesday in a 4-1 win over third-tier side SC Verl. With the £15.6m signing of Perri, Leeds now have seven new faces.

Nmecha cost nothing, while Bornauw was a measly £5m. Leeds spent £10m on Gudmundsson, while Bijol and Longstaff cost £15m apiece. Bijol was Udinese’s captain and Longstaff only arrived after a fourth bid.

Perri’s fee is slightly more than Longstaff and Bijol at £15.6m including add-ons, while Stach remains the most. Leeds are said to have paid a £19.9m fee to Hoffenheim, of which £17.3m will be paid up front.

Leeds are likely to blow their spending out of the water

The splashing of £80m across seven different signings is actually quite conservative, when considering how much it costs to sign Premier League players these days. Leeds have been smart with their outlay.

Whether it be signing players in the final years of their contracts, or doing a deal for a player that is keen to leave, Underwood has got it bang on. Two transfer priorities remain after Perri, a winger and a striker.

Notoriously, attacking positions cost more. The two priorities for these positions are Igor Paixao and Rodrigo Muniz and if Leeds pay Marseille and Fulham’s asking prices, they will double what they’ve spent.

Feyenoord are said to want £30m for Brazilian winger Paixao, with Marseille only offering £24m. Leeds have been told Muniz is a £50m-rated striker, meaning Paixao and Muniz could cost as much as £80m.
