The time is now for Leeds United to start moving in the market with less than a week until the window slams shut.
Leeds are still yet to make a single signing so far this month but under Daniel Farke’s own admission, are in need of reinforcements and the Premier League loan market is where they have been looking.
So far, movement has been extremely quiet on the whole, but as the deadline gets closer, players will start becoming unavailable and Leeds have been given some encouragement over a potential signing.
The Whites are on the lookout for a new creative winger and have been linked with moves for both Manuel Benson and David Brooks. A new update emerged on Leeds’ pursuit of the former yesterday, but the door may have just opened for a deal to be done for the latter.
Brooks was speaking to BBC Radio Solent after Bournemouth’s 5-0 win over Swansea City in the FA Cup last night, and admitted that he will look for a move if first team football is not guaranteed on the South Coast.
Brooks opens door for Leeds move
He said: “I need to be playing first team football. I’d love to continue my football here, but it’s up to everyone what they think the best situation is.
“I’d rather be playing here but if he [Iraola] think there’s not guaranteed football for me here then I’ll try explore opportunities elsewhere. But I’d rather play here, it’s up to the gaffer, and we go from there.”
Brooks is a player Leeds have been interested all month but there is also competition from Southampton for his signature.
Bournemouth had initially been unsure whether to to allow Brooks to leave but their stance has changed somewhat in the last week or so, and could let him go if a replacement is found.
Any deal for the 26-year-old is likely to go right down to the wire, but if Brooks is to become available, and Leeds get a deal done, it would justify their strategy of waiting for the right players.
