Fabio Carvalho is set to join Hull City after Leeds United were linked with a move for the Portuguese talent – and so were Southampton. Now, the Saints have turned their attention to a Leeds target.
Carvalho was being linked with Leeds and Southampton after his loan at RB Leipzig had been cancelled. It was expected the Portugal U21 star would join one of the Championship’s biggest clubs this month.
But, instead, Liverpool feel he needs proper game time and that is why he has been sent to Hull City on loan under Liam Rosenior, as per The Mirror. Confirmation is expected to come in the next 24 hours.
It leaves Leeds and Southampton licking their wounds, and forced to pursue other targets. One of those is David Brooks, with the £12m star one of five Welsh names linked with a move to Leeds in January.
TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook says Southampton are going to turn their attention to Bournemouth star Brooks now that they have missed out in a move for Carvalho, claiming as much on Twitter yesterday.

Southampton turn attention to Leeds United target David Brooks
Carvalho would have been an incredible signing for any Championship side, and probably some Premier League teams, too. So for Hull to get his signature is a coup for Liam Rosenior’s play-off chasing side.
Southampton and Leeds remain in the market for a dynamic attacker and Brooks is certainly going to be one that gets a move before January. Surely, Leeds have a better chance of nabbing him than the Saints.
That is because of the presence of Wales teammates James, Ampadu and Rodon – and the possibility that Leeds could add another Wales star. Connor Roberts, Chris Mepham, Kieffer Moore all being linked.
