Louie Barry has been in the headlines for Leeds United during this transfer window but the Whites face serious competition for his signature.

In recent time Leeds’ interest in Barry has died down slightly, with the Whites being told they don’t need Louie Barry.

The latest on the striker lies with Unai Emery as Aston Villa are deciding on Barry’s future.

Leeds are one of many interested in Barry as the 21-year-old is in high demand this January but a big statement has been made by a Champions League side.

Celtic are set to offer Villa a rather tempting bid for the youngster.

Celtic set to offer seven-figure bid for Leeds United target Louie Barry

With Leeds unlikely to go for Barry this window as Farke’s issue of a quiet window continues to loom large, it seems as though they’ll be sticking with their forward options.

This could change, however, with Leeds still interested in Emmanuel Latte Lath but Barry’s pursuit seems to be fizzling out.

Adding more onto this reason is Celtic’s claim on the striker, as according to the Daily Record, the Scottish giants are set to test Villa’s resolve with a seven-figure bid for Barry.

Villa have said they would prefer Barry to sign a deal after they offered him a new contract which would then put him on loan to a Championship side giving Leeds a chance.

However, if Celtic’s offer is tempting and Barry accepts, Leeds’ efforts will come to no avail.

Stan Collymore comments on Barry could detail his choice

Leeds would turn into a different beast with someone of Barry’s qualities, as although the youngster hasn’t experienced the Championship his experience speaks volumes.

At just 21, Barry has experienced seven different environments but despite this, he only has eyes for one according to Stan Collymore.

In a column, he did for Caught Offside (August 2024), Collymore said: “Louie Barry, a wonder kid at West Brom, goes to Barcelona and then comes back and plays for Villa. As a massive Villa fan, he still wants to play for the club.

“He had a nasty period with injuries and was loaned out five times by Villa, and has now been loaned out again – but the lad desperately wanted to stay.”

Now, Barry is considered ready and the striker may favour a new contract with his commitment to obtaining a spot in the first team.

He’s chosen the better options for his career, and now Emery might see a place for him as Leeds may have to look elsewhere.
