Leeds United seem to be a bit lost in this January transfer window. There’s no signings looking imminent, and nobody seems to be leaving; it all just seems a bit dead.
It’s a weird feeling for Leeds United fans right now. Clubs near them at the top of the Championship table are making signings, and some impressive ones at that, whilst Leeds seem to be a bit too quiet.
There’s no shortage of players linked with moves to Elland Road. But there’s a definite, almost complete lack of actual concrete moves for players. For Daniel Farke right now, there just seems to be players of interest.
But the window could soon burst into life as we approach deadline day, as it often does. Leeds are keeping tabs on Emmanuel Latte Lath at Middlesbrough, but he’s seemingly on the verge of joining Atlanta United, whilst there’s ongoing talk of Nico Elvedi joining Leeds United.
Fans though want to see some flair brought in. Leeds could arguably do with another attacking player to really set them up for the run in, and one exciting name has been linked in Louie Barry.

Louie Barry latest as Aston Villa keep Leeds United in limbo
Leeds United are one of many interested in Barry during this January transfer. It appears as though half the Championship has Barry on their radar with Sheffield United and Sunderland both linked, along with the likes of Derby County, Hull City, and Millwall of late.
But Villa can’t decide whether or not to loan or sell Barry in the January window. Fresh from a prolific loan spell with Stockport County in League One, it’s unclear how much Villa would want for the 21-year-old. If they send him on loan though, it’s surely to a Championship club.
The Athletic have now weighed in on the situation. They write that Aston Villa are ‘soon set to decide whether to loan or sell the forward’, suggesting that any move for Barry could be near deadline day, which is February 3rd.

£20m agreement could get the ball rolling for Leeds United
Elsewhere at Villa Park, it’s reported that Jaden Philogene has agreed a £20million move to Ipswich Town. The move isn’t official yet, but it looks like Villa are about to offload the young winger.
And that could speed up proceedings where Barry is concerned; now that Philogene’s future is sorted, they can move to Barry. But Philogene leaving only shunts Barry up the pecking order.
So in truth, Philogene leaving might see Barry kept at Villa. But The Athletic’s comments certainly suggest that Barry is moving in January. It’s just a question of a temporary or permanent move.
Leeds must be ready to make their move in what is bound to be a hectic battle to sign Barry towards the end of the January transfer window.
