Leeds United are closing in on a deal to bring in AC Milan forward Noah Okafor, with the Swiss international heading to West Yorkshire for a medical.

As first revealed, Leeds United interest and first signs of having Okafor interest were revealed by Leeds United News. It was then stated by Beren Cross that the AC Milan forward was being looked at by Leeds.

It’s also been made clear that Milan are open to selling Okafor before the transfer deadline. However, the deal has since accelerated rapidly and Leeds are close to wrapping it up.

Further Okafor movement was expected today and LUN exclusively revealed Okafor to Leeds is done, pending a medical.

Okafor’s display against Leeds for Milan in Dublin helped to convince the Whites. The Swiss international will be joining his fifth club of his career.

It was revealed that the fee in total that Leeds would have to pay Milan is over €20 million for the 25-year-old. Instead, £13 million for Okafor is the primary fee, although add-ons are likely.

The Arsenal away fixture is on Saturday evening and players need to be signed before noon the day before a game in order to be registered to feature in a Premier League match.

Per Fabrizio Romano, Okafor is heading for his medical in the next 24 hours. An agreement has been reached to seal the deal imminently for Leeds, meaning he should be registered with time to spare.

Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has also stated that a medical is scheduled for Wednesday and that a deal is to be finalised soon. It should mean he is signed in time to make the matchday squad this weekend.

Noah Okafor has failed a medical before

Having already gambled on the fitness of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha, Okafor is another serious injury concern for Leeds to contend with.

Of course, the medical team did well with Manor Solomon and Sam Byram last season, but it’s subsequently been suggested that Leeds have concerns over Okafor’s injury.

He has previously failed a medical, as explained by Sky Sports Germany’s Phillip Hinze. The former Red Bull Salzburg attacker almost signed for RB Leipzig.

That was back in January, with a deal collapsing. Leeds will hope that it doesn’t this time around to secure their ninth summer addition.
