The January transfer window could be the deciding factor in the race for promotion from the Championship this season. Leeds United are busy, but what are their rivals up to?
Leeds United keep their spot in 1st place of the Championship table after their resounding 7-0 win over Cardiff City on Saturday.
Despite that win, Daniel Farke’s Leeds United transfer plans don’t change. He and his recruitment team are staying up late on Monday to see what they can do, with Cameron Archer looking like a prime target for the Whites.
It could well be a signing that gets Leeds over the Championship promotion line this season. But the likes of Sheffield United, Burnley, and Sunderland are also eyeing season-defining signings.
Here’s what Leeds United’s promotion rivals are up to on deadline day…

Sheffield United
Just this morning, reports revealed that Sheffield United are eyeing a deal for Millwall’s Japhet Tanganga, along with QPR’s Jimmy Dunne, with Chris Wilder’s side wanting to sign a new centre-back.
It’s also been reported that the Blades have arranged medicals for two unnamed, overseas signings, though in which position they are remains to be seen.
Sheffield United confirmed signings: Tom Cannon, Hamza Choudhury, Harry Clarke, Ben Brereton Diaz.
Sheffield United confirmed departures: Anis Slimani, Ismaila Coulibaly.
Burnley
Burnley have just pulled off an exciting deadline day signing with Sporting attacker Marcus Edwards sealing a loan move to Turf Moor.
It looks as though that will be Burnley’s only deadline day signing with Scott Parker’s side also looking set to retain all of their players, including Leeds United target Mike Tresor.
It’s reported that Tresor is unfit and therefore unlikely to seal a move anywhere on deadline day.
Burnley confirmed signings: Marcus Edwards, Oliver Sonne, Adhley Barnes, Jonjo Shelvey.
Burnley confirmed departures: Jay Rodriguez, Hjalmar Ekdal, Hannes Delcroix, Han-Noah Massengo, Andreas Hountondji, Owen Dodgson.

Sunderland
The Black Cats are always busy on deadline day, and this deadline day is no different with Sunderland looking as though they’ve sealed a loan deal for Liverpool striker Jayden Danns.
The 19-year-old has opted for Sunderland who, like many others, seem to be focussed on just the one signing on deadline day.
Interestingly, Sunderland are also linked with Archer alongside Leeds, though Leeds’ interest certainly seems more concrete.
Sunderland confirmed signings: Enzo Le Fee, Wilson Isidor.
Sunderland confirmed departures: Adil Aouchiche, Nazariy Rusyn, Aaron Connolly.
