Little under 12 hours until the winter transfer window slams shut, and one Leeds United transfer rumour has been hit on the head.

Leeds United are seemingly running out of rumoured targets to bring to Elland Road in the final hours of the window, with several players having moved elsewhere.

But one name linked in the build up to deadline day is Eduard Spertsyan. It’s been claimed that Leeds want to sign Spertsyan who Daniel Farke previously worked with at Russian Premier League side Krasnodar.

An attacking midfielder, the 24-year-old Armenian international has scored six and assisted three more in 18 league games for Krasnodar this season.

Leeds United deny Eduard Spertsyan interest

Rather oddly, Russian outlet Match TV has claimed that they’ve spoke to Leeds’ officials, who’ve confirmed to them that the club is not currently pursuing a move for Spertsyan.

Per their report, the Leeds ‘press service’ have said: “No, that’s not true,” with regards to the Spertsyan rumours.

Other names linked with Leeds United on deadline day include Cameron Archer who could leave Southampton on loan, and Matt Targett who now seems set to stay at Newcastle United.

Eduard Spertsyan told to avoid Leeds United

Leeds’ interest in Spertsyan being played down may not even matter that much. At least not to Spertsyan who was told to avoid Leeds United and instead move to Spain or Italy.

Russian pundit and former international Dmitri Radchenko said: “The Italian and Spanish championships will suit Eduard’s playing style, but I have big questions about England.”

Spertsyan’s move to West Yorkshire being played down may be the first of many moves to be played down on deadline day. Leeds though seem desperate to get at least one signing over the line before 11pm.
