Leeds United have so far held firm in their stance on Crysencio Summerville this summer.
Summerville continues to be linked with some of European football’s biggest clubs on the back of winning the Championship’s POTS in 2023/24, but so far a move has not materialised.
Earlier in the summer, Chelsea and Liverpool were both named as among the interested clubs, yet are still to come to the table with a proper offer.
More recently, West Ham United, Rennes and AS Roma have emerged potential destinations, but again nothing has progressed into advanced stages.
West Ham have seemingly been put off by Leeds’ asking price after submitting an offer earlier this week, while Roma have instead moved to sign Matias Soule from Juventus.
What Leeds are telling clubs who want Summerville
There is said to be an understanding from both Leeds and Summerville’s camp that an exit is highly likely before the end of the window.
However, in recognition for the platform Leeds have laid for his career, Summerville is determined to ensure the Whites receive the best possible deal.
An asking price of £30 million is what has been mentioned throughout the last few weeks but according to Team Talk, that figure is actually closer to the £35 million mark.
And as per the same report, Leeds are making it very clear to interested clubs they will not be accepting any ‘cut-price’ bids and any club who wishes to sign him simply have to meet that valuation.
On the contrary, there have been suggestions throughout Europe that Leeds’ valuation is more between the £17m-£21m mark.
However, after Archie Gray’s sale, Leeds are not in a position where they are desperate to sell and so that is almost certainly wide of the mark, with the previously mentioned figure of £30 million far more accurate.
What Daniel Farke has said on Summerville future
After what he achieved last season, there isn’t a single person at Leeds who would be opposed to keeping Summerville for another year.
At the same time, however, there has to be a sense of realism in that Summerville has now arguably outgrown the Championship and deserves his move.
Speaking after Wednesday’s win over Hannover, Farke has acknowledged both sides of the argument, admitting it is a possibility he could depart.
He said: “Yes, in football you can never rule out anything, so all is possible. For that I can’t give any guarantees as I am not a magician. I can just judge what I see and both are fully integrated, they are fun to be here, they work hard.
“Even today was a game the opponent tried to set some signs and the first target is always Summerville or Gnonto with many tackles. It showed maturity the way they handled it and how they kept going to bring themselves into good shape.
“So for that I just can judge what I see, I see hard work and commitment, great attitude and for that I am more than hopeful they chip in with top performances like last season.”
