Leeds United have so far managed to avoid a repeat of the nightmare of last summer when it came to players leaving on loan.
The Whites lost eight members of the 2022/23 first team squad on temporary deals as a result of loan clauses that were inserted into the contracts by former sporting director Victor Orta.
While a fifth loan exit of this summer is about to be sanctioned by Leeds in young goalkeeper Darryl Ombang, it is only Jack Harrison’s that is of real frustration.
Harrison returned to Everton on loan for a second successive season, with Leeds having managed to secure permanent exits for both Marc Roca and Diego Llorente.
Brenden Aaronson rejected the chance to leave on loan again, while neither Max Wober or Rasmus Kristensen have active loan clauses this time around, with their futures undecided.
Junior Firpo has option to leave Leeds on loan
Although Leeds have so far managed to avoid a repeat of last summer, it would appear a key member of last season’s first team squad does have the option to leave on loan.
Despite Archie Gray’s sale easing Leeds’ PSR concerns, it is looking likely that another two big-names are headed for exits, all be it permanently.
Glen Kamara is close to joining Rennes, while Wilfried Gnonto is in talks with Everton. Junior Firpo could well be about to follow.
According to Spanish outlet ABC, Firpo has the option to leave Leeds on loan this summer as a result of the failure to win promotion to the Premier League.
Firpo had been expected to depart 12 months ago but a serious knee injury, coupled with Leeds having maxed out their international loan quota, meant it never materialised.
With less than a year left on his contract and no offer of a new deal in the pipeline, this would be a real nightmare scenario for Leeds if Firpo was to leave on loan.

Real Betis eyeing move for Firpo
One of the interested clubs in Firpo is reportedly his former one Real Betis, who have already signed Roca and Llorente from Leeds this summer.
Firpo’s name is said to have came up in talks for both of those players, and they now view him as a realistic option to strengthen at left-back.
Losing the ‘relentless‘ Firpo would be a real blow to Leeds as he established himself as a key player under Daniel Farke, providing eight assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.
His exit would leave Leeds with yet another position that needs strengthening, in what is becoming a frustrating window.
