Daniel Farke has finally shared his thoughts on Leeds United’s transfer window.
Farke reiterated throughout the whole of January that he would only speak about business when it is done and Leeds eventually made their first signing in the very final moments of deadline day.
Leeds very much prioritised a new right-back last month following the departures of both Djed Spence and Luke Ayling, and after a number of snubs, finally brought in Connor Roberts on loan from Burnley.
Roberts is a player Leeds were linked pretty much as soon as Spence was sent back to Tottenham but it was not until the very final hours of the window that a deal was agreed.
Speaking in his post-match press conference after the win at Bristol City, Farke believes Roberts is the ‘perfect fit’ at right-back for Leeds and is delighted to have finally managed to sign a ‘specialist’.

He said: “We allowed Ayling and Spence to leave, leaving only Gray and Shackleton there. We have a specialist in there now with Connor, Great CV, great age. 180 games at this level.
“Great character and fully committed. Half of the Wales national team is here now. They will be well prepared to face Glen Kamara’s Finland.
“Not easy to improve our group, but it’s a perfect fit. He has to prove it on the pitch and in training now. Good to have a specialist.”
Roberts will not be available to make his debut until next weekend’s home match against Rotherham United but his arrival will help take the pressure Archie Gray.
Gray was exceptional again last night but an kind of injury to him and Leeds would’ve been struggling until Roberts was signed. It will also allow him to move back into midfield.
Roberts himself also believes he will be the perfect fit at Elland Road and his understanding with the likes of Joe Rodon, Dan James and Ethan Ampadu should allow him to settle in quickly.
