Leeds United finally announced the signing of Connor Roberts from Burnley on loan until the end of the season – and Roberts says he can help improve three of Daniel Farke’s players at Elland Road.

Roberts, 28, joins Leeds on a loan deal without an obligation or a permanent clause to buy him at the end of the season. The 54-time Wales star has already said he is open to signing beyond the loan spell.

The defender reunites with Joe Rodon and Dan James, who he played with at Swansea and of course with Wales – where he also plays alongside Ethan Ampadu. He crossed paths with Joel Piroe there, too.

Patrick Bamford as well, at Middlesbrough in 2017-18. Roberts spoke to media after his move and told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he believes he can help Ampadu, Rodon and youngster Archie Gray.

“I think I’ve got plenty of experience to bring to Archie, if he’s playing there or Joe alongside me, Ethan, I know them well, but I can still give them some pointers and hopefully as a collective, a group,” he said.

Roberts says he has the experience to improve many at Leeds, and it must be remembered that this Leeds side is incredibly young. Roberts knows what it takes to get promoted from the Championship.

Ampadu is still very young, Gray is only in his first season at senior level and Rodon is finally getting a full season after three difficult years. Leeds need their best players at their best, and Roberts can help.

Roberts will be barred from making his debut for Leeds until next weekend. Too late to be included in tonight’s squad against Bristol City, Roberts is cup tied for next week’s replay away at Plymouth.
