Mergim Berisha to Leeds United transfer update with strange deal structure suggested

Mergim Berisha is a name that Leeds United fans have likely heard of. He was wanted by the club when Jesse Marsch was in charge, though it could be Daniel Farke who finally brings him to Elland Road.

Leeds United have a horde of names apparently on their transfer radar right now. Unfortunately though, it doesn’t look like anyone is very close to joining Daniel Farke’s side right now.

Meanwhile, the likes of Sunderland are about to sign Enzo Le Fee on loan from Roma, in a move that’s getting a few Leeds fans worked up about the lack of reported arrivals at Elland Road.

Leeds look as though they’re scouring the European markets for potential new signings. Most of all, it looks like Farke has his sights set on the Bundesliga with a handful of names being linked with Leeds.

Nico Elvedi is wanted by Leeds United, with Farke eyeing a reunion with the Borussia Monchengladbach man, whilst the Whites are also thought to be targeting Mergim Berisha at Hoffenheim.

Leeds United remain keen on Mergim Berisha

Berisha, 26, looks set to be on the move in January. It’s been revealed that Berisha has no future at Hoffenheim and that a number of clubs are looking at him right now, including German rivals Werder Bremen.

Previously, Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United bid for Berisha but obviously couldn’t make the move happen. But it’s now been confirmed that Leeds have retained their interest in Berisha. Sky Sports journalist Ben Heckner has confirmed on X: “Werder Bremen and Leeds United are still interested in Hoffenheim’s Mergim Berisha.”

Interestingly, it’s been suggested that Berisha could leave on a one-and-a-half year loan deal with an option to buy. It’s already been reported that Hoffenheim value Berisha at £5.8million.

Patrick Bamford update could impact Mergim Berisha interest at Leeds United

Striker doesn’t seem like a position that Farke is desperately keen on bolstering in January, though this latest report regarding Berisha suggests that Leeds have an eye on potential options in the market.

But a Leeds move for Berisha may be somewhat blocked by Patrick Bamford. The high-earning striker is injured and it’s now been revealed that Wrexham aren’t interested in Bamford in this January window.

Leeds seem unlikely to spend big on Berisha when they’ve still got Bamford on the books, and there’s every chance that Bamford could still find form in the second half of the season.

Right now it seems like Farke is focussing his attentions on a new centre back signing at Elland Road, with several defenders linked right now.
