‘Maybe it’s time’… Premier League manager admits Leeds United target is on his way out

Despite almost six signings at Leeds United, the 49ers are by no means done in the window.

There is very likely to be at least another three or four arrivals at Elland Road, as Daniel Farke still hasn’t ticked off all his positions.

A striker will be signed for Leeds, and that could be the direction after Anton Stach completes his medical.

Stach’s £20m move will take a chunk out of the budget, making it the most expensive of the summer, but the Whites could still have at least £80m more to invest.

Another area of the squad could have this, and one target in that position is certainly leaving his club.

Vitor Pereira admits Leeds United target Nelson Semedo is leaving

Jayden Bogle seems safe at right-back, potentially a bit too safe for Farke’s liking.

This could mean full-back cover comes in, as despite Isaac Schmidt’s cover, the Leeds boss might need some more Premier League pedigree in his squad.

Nelson Semedo has been ‘one to watch’ for Leeds, as now he’s a free agent, the Portuguese international has been debating his future.

His options have been either remaining at Wolves or exploring ventures elsewhere, as Vitor Pereira wanted to keep Semedo with Leeds still lingering.

But all might not be as it seems, with Semedo and Pereira agreeing on something as the Wolves boss spoke to the Express and Star.

“He said to me that maybe it’s time, after five years here, to find another challenge, and I understand,” Pereira said.

“Then, waiting and waiting and waiting. We cannot wait. I like Nelson a lot. That’s why the club has a lot of respect and offered him a very good contract.

“But at the end of the day, we need to look for our club. We need to look for our future.”

Semedo would be an excellent coup for Leeds for specific reason

With the 31-year-old now on the free agent market, the 49ers have the chance to present the project at Elland Road.

Bogle is looking a little comfy in that right-back position, and Farke will enjoy some fresh competition, despite Bogle’s brilliance last season.

He showed this once again recently as Bogle impressed Man United fans in the recent friendly, but adding Semedo to the squad isn’t bad business at all.

His numbers last season have proven he can flourish in the top flight, but the more exciting point is that Semedo can play on both sides, which will be useful to Leeds.

After experience with the Portugal national team and Barcelona, to add to this, it seems a no-brainer if the full-back is keen on a move to Yorkshire.
