Leeds United will be aware that the club cannot spend big money on every single area of the squad that requires strengthening or added depth – and that means loans and free transfers are required.
Leeds need a new goalkeeper, cover at centre-back, a replacement for Junior Firpo, two midfielders, a better version of Brenden Aaronson, Manor Solomon permanently and a proven Premier League striker.
That is eight signings at the very least, to give Daniel Farke the best chance of Premier League survival. If the club are to buy a Premier League-quality player for each role, it could cost them well beyond £200m.
Leeds simply cannot afford to do that, not just because it is a lot of money but because it would break PSR. Loans and frees are also required and one option is Wolves captain Nelson Semedo, this summer.

Leeds have plenty of free agents on their shortlist this summer, with the likes of Aaron Cresswell and Callum Wilson linked with Leeds in recent days. Another is Wolves star Semedo, after five years at Wolves.
Ben Jacobs recently said Leeds are one to watch in pursuit of Portugal international Semedo, with the club intent on bringing in Premier League-proven players after the failure of the summer window in 2022.
But Pereira told A Bola he is keen to keep Semedo at Molineux, confirming Wolves have made an offer: “Nelson knows that we want him. He is our captain, a player who has helped me a lot to unite the group.
“On the pitch and off the pitch. He is a quality player. He knows that we want him. I think the club has already made him an offer. We will see what happens,” Pereira continued, having made Semedo captain.

Semedo clearly remains undecided whether to stay at Wolves or search for pastures new and proof of that is in his latest Instagram post, in which Semedo sent a message to Wolves fans as the season ended.
The former Barcelona man said he knows he has a “big decision” to make regarding his future, but it came after saying that if fans and players stick together, Wolves can achieve something very special.
It is unclear when Semedo will make a decision, with Junior Firpo and Sam Byram currently in the same boat at Elland Road. Ironically, Leeds will be looking to sign Semedo if Firpo and Byram do end up going.
