It feels like only a matter of time before Leeds United announce the signing of Anton Stach from Hoffenheim and now, Florian Plettenberg has a new update on Monday afternoon.
Last week, Leeds confirmed the £15m arrival of Sean Longstaff from Newcastle but Adam Underwood is not content there. He is about to finish sorting out Leeds’ midfield options with the arrival of Stach.
The two-time Germany star was absent from Hoffenheim’s friendly on the weekend, which resulted in an 11-0 win. It is believed Stach flew to England and has been undergoing a medical today at Thorp Arch.
Graham Smyth confirmed that a medical was ongoing, ahead of what is expected to be an initial £17m deal plus add-ons. Stach is set to sign a contract at Elland Road, keeping him until the summer of 2029.

Florian Plettenberg’s latest update on Anton Stach’s Leeds move
Now, Plettenberg has a new update for Leeds fans early on Monday afternoon. It sounds like a deal has not faced any obstacles and Leeds will now do business with Hoffenheim for a second time in two years.
Leeds, of course, completed a club-record deal to sign Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim back in January 2023. A deal that remains the club’s record buy, though it could end up being broken by Leeds soon.
Plettenberg confirmed that Stach’s move to Leeds is “all done and sealed” and the Germany midfielder will immediately fly out to Leeds’ training camp, where the squad will play two pre-season friendlies.
“Anton Stach is undergoing his medical at Leeds today. He will join up directly with the squad, who are holding their training camp in Germany (Harsewinkel). All done and sealed. €20 million plus add-ons.”
What next for Leeds in the transfer market after Anton Stach?
With the defence and the midfield sorted, Leeds will now focus their attention on signing a goalkeeper, a left-sided winger and a striker. Leeds need to replace Illan Meslier in goal and the loss of Manor Solomon.
Graham Smyth reported over the weekend that Leeds are targeting a trio of Brazilians in Lucas Perri, Igor Paixao and Rodrigo Muniz. But Perri has picked up an injury and Marseille are in talks to sign Paixao.
Leeds have already seen a £26m bid rejected for Muniz, though the Fulham striker is keen to join Leeds and a second offer closer to Fulham’s £50m valuation is likely. Plenty to do, even before any outgoings.
