Leeds United are unlikely to enter the January transfer window for a mass influx of new signings but they could be forced into doing so, if a handful of current stars leave Daniel Farke’s side.

Daniel Farke has made it clear he is expecting a quiet January. But, the German boss is well aware that he has a small-ish squad at Leeds and if any players do depart, then they will need replacing in January.

Salzburg could try a “clever loan” for Max Wober, with Wober also touted with a move to Wolves. Striker Joe Gelhardt is keen to leave Leeds, while Wrexham and Genoa are interested in signing Patrick Bamford.

Besiktas are keen on Junior Firpo while Tottenham are looking at Pascal Struijk. Another linked with the exit door is Illan Meslier, who has an impressive 12 clean sheets in 22 Championship games this season.

Manchester United eye surprise move for Leeds United player

Following Altay Bayindir’s dismal display in the 4-3 Carabao Cup loss to Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United are keen to bring in a no.2 at Old Trafford that will keep Andre Onana on his toes moving forward.

The Sun say Meslier is one of two goalkeepers being considered by the Elland Road rivals. Botafogo’s John is the other, with Meslier a preferred candidate of goalkeeping scout Tony Coton at Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s links with the Frenchman come after Glen Kamara’s Rennes were touted with a move for Meslier. Arsenal have also been linked with Meslier, as a possible back-up to current no.1 David Raya.

What Graeme Bailey has told us about Illan Meslier’s future

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that he knows Meslier has no desire to be a no.2. But Bailey has also told us that Meslier will leave Leeds if The Whites don’t get promoted.

Meslier has a contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2026. So there’s every chance that if a decent offer does arrive for Meslier in January, The 49ers may be tempted to cash in on Meslier in January.

But Leeds will not want to lose Meslier in the middle of the season amid a push for promotion, especially a player that has been made one of two vice-captains at Leeds. Every player has his price, however.
