Leeds United are not expected to be particularly busy in the January window but there are rumours circling that a few players could leave next month, and Bestikas are monitoring one Elland Road star.

Daniel Farke has already said Leeds are expecting a quiet window. But Joe Gelhardt wants to leave next month because of his lack of game time, interesting Championship clubs and Scottish giants Rangers.

Max Wober’s old side Salzburg are interested in luring the Austrian back to his former club, while Wolves have been touted with a move for Wober. Glen Kamara’s Rennes are interested in signing Illan Meslier.

Besiktas want to sign Leeds United defender in January

Turkish side Besiktas have really struggled this season despite boasting players like Ciro Immobile, Rafa Silva and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. They sit fifth in the SuperLig, 13 points behind leaders Galatasaray.

One of the Besiktas players coming in for stick is former West Ham United left-back Arthur Masuaku. Fotospor say Masuaku is getting booed when he plays and Besiktas want to sign a left-sided defender.

The report says that has tempted Besiktas president Huseyin Yucel to sign a new left-back in January. Leeds star Junior Firpo is being considered by the Europa League outfit ahead of a possible January move.

Firpo is out of contract at the end of the season and it means that Besiktas could sign for a cut-price fee in January, or arrange a pre-contract arrangement to sign him on a free next summer, from January 1.

Junior Firpo is too good, and young, to move to Turkey already

The Turkish SuperLig is a league declining in quality and quickly becoming a division which only signs players when they are nearing the twilight of their careers. At 28, Firpo still has plenty of games left to go.

Firpo has picked up a hamstring injury and will be sidelined at least until the middle of January and that makes a move in the winter window slightly tougher to pull off. Firpo is likely to be focused on Leeds.

He could still sign a new contract but Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News that Firpo will only sign a new deal if Leeds go up. With Leeds second and a point off first, that is still very conceivable at this stage.
