Daniel Farke may be wanting a quiet January transfer window at Leeds United but that could change if players make their way out of Elland Road.
Farke has insisted Leeds will remain ‘awake‘ but is happy with his current squad and doesn’t want too many players coming in to risk upsetting the balance.
However, with the window now less than a month away from opening, rumours are once again starting to surface, with two fringe members of the squad being linked with exits.
Joe Gelhardt is keen on securing a loan move in January and is wanted by Rangers and several Championship clubs after yet another few months of no game time.
In fact, calls are already said to have started being lodged to his agent in the hope a deal can be done quickly after the turn of the new year.

Red Bull Salzburg director Rouven Schröder on Max Wober links
As well as Gelhardt, centre-back Max Wober has also been linked with an exit in the last few days, with former club Red Bull Salzburg reportedly keen, according to the Salzburger Nachrichten.
Wober has played just twice as a substitute in the Championship this season since returning to the club from a loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach.
That said, both of those appearances have actually come in the last three matches, which would suggest Farke still sees him as part of his squad.
As an Austrian international, though, Wober won’t be happy at being sat on a second tier bench for much longer and so these links are certainly interesting.
Salzburg have just appointed Rouven Schröder as their new sporting director ahead of the January window after an atrocious opening few months of the season.
They sit seventh in the Austrian Bundesliga and 32nd in the Champions League phase and so Schröder has clearly been brought in to oversee a busy window.
Schröder was actually directly asked about reports linking Wober with Salzburg, and hinted that his experience could be useful in a young, struggling team.
He told the Salzburger Nachrichten: “We should also think maximally in this direction. That’s part of the process. Maybe you can trigger something with a player’s departure and change the structure of the team. The same applies to new arrivals.
“The transfer time is definitely a very important factor for me in order to be able to change things. I’ve only been here since yesterday and therefore haven’t had any transfer discussions yet. Basically, I don’t think it’s wrong to have experienced players in a young team.”

Wober’s stance on move from Leeds to Salzburg
As mentioned, Wober clearly won’t be too happy about his lack of game time at Leeds this season and so a potential return to Salzburg would give him a decision to make.
Wober has commented on his game time during both of the international breaks he has been away on, claiming he understands why he hasn’t been picked.
However, as per the report linking Wober with a return to Austria, it is said he would be open to a potential transfer.
If Leeds can recoup the £10 million they paid for him and bring in a decent replacement, then perhaps it would be a move that suits all parties.
