Honest Leigh Bromby says one Leeds United player was ‘really good’ vs Oxford, but he can still do better

Leeds United were at their brilliant best on Saturday afternoon as they completely took Oxford United apart to win 4-0 at Elland Road, with Daniel Farke’s men firing on all cylinders in attack.

After last weekend’s frustrating draw against Preston, The Whites were looking to bounce back to keep the pressure on Sheffield United. They did that with a convincing 4-0 win against struggling Oxford.

Dan James opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the season, as he slid in to tap home a low cross from Manor Solomon. A second came when Jayden Bogle and Brenden Aaronson played a neat one-two.

Leeds‘ third goal was from Aaronson himself, latching on to a neat pass from Solomon and then the on-loan Tottenham man got his third goal of the season – smashing an effort into the net with his left foot.

Leigh Bromby shares what he thought about Manor Solomon

When Solomon first signed, there was real hype. A Premier League-standard player that has only earned a move to Tottenham a year prior, having played in the Champions League and starred while at Fulham.

Solomon even scored for Fulham against Leeds in the FA Cup, but it has been a frustrating start to his loan after a year on the sidelines with a meniscus injury – followed by a couple of knocks while at Leeds.

But two assists and a goal on Saturday was impressive and former Whites defender Leigh Bromby was impressed, yet the old Elland Road star doesn’t think Leeds fans have seen the best of Solomon just yet.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, he said: “That’s the most pleasing thing, players like that coming in and playing well. A big tick for Farke. You’ll see the best of him in January just because of the injuries he’s had

“And, how long he’s been out. Today was a really good performance from him. Previously, he looked like he was lacking confidence but that’s all it is. To watch him today, he showed glimpses of what is to come.”

Leeds United’s top five goals and assists this season, so far

Solomon has only started seven games this season and managed less than 750 minutes of action and yet, he has six goals and assists and is Leeds’ fifth highest in terms of goals and assists in the league this term.

It leaves Daniel Farke with a very difficult decision to make when The Whites go to Stoke on Boxing Day, with Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani also pushing for a start. James of course, got himself a goal.
