Leeds United transfer rumours latest, including updates on Norwich City’s Josh Sargent, Mateo Joseph’s future, and the latest on Lucas Perri.

The transfer window has around six weeks left for the 49ers and Leeds United, who are continuing their momentum in the market as more concrete transfer news emerges to add to their six summer additions.

A busy summer still lies ahead at Leeds as Daniel Farke looks to improve several areas of the side, with the Leeds squad getting closer to completion ahead of the club’s return to the Premier League and now entering a crucial stage in pre-season.

Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sean Longstaff, and Anton Stach have all become Leeds players in recent weeks, meaning they are making progress but more are set to follow.

In the meantime, with vital weeks ahead for Farke and the recruitment team, here we have taken a look at some of the latest transfer news and the biggest headlines coming out of the club.

Leeds target Josh Sargent prefers to stay in England

Leeds need a striker and they could go with someone Farke knows well, as the door has blown open once again for Josh Sargent to join. With serious Leeds links to Sargent emerging in May 2024 and also with Farke previously raving about the Norwich striker.

It was reported that the Whites target was nearing a move to the Bundesliga again, as Sargent was joining Wolfsburg for £21 million. However, Sargent has now rejected the move to the Bundesliga and prefers to stay in England.

Leeds fans thought Sargent’s fee to leave was ‘insane’ in the context of overpaying for a player who has hardly proven his worth at the elite level up to this point in his career.

Real Betis stand firm on Mateo Joseph deal

The case of Mateo Joseph is interesting. The Spain U-21 striker is currently in the United Kingdom after Daniel Farke confirmed Joseph wants to go. It’s previously been reported that Joseph is keen on a return to Spain.

Joseph has also rejected Farke’s demands to join the squad in Germany. That’s because there has been serious interest in Joseph from Real Betis for a while now.

It’s now reported that Betis want a loan for Joseph or a deal between £8.5 million and £13 million, perhaps inclusive of add-ons or some sort of sell-on clause being involved as well.

Lucas Perri and Illan Meslier’s situation explained

In terms of a transfer fee, Lucas Perri was first touted with Leeds at around £13 million. It could cost Leeds £15.6 million for Perri in total now, per the latest reports.

Focus has switched to signing a striker, a winger, and a goalkeeper after Anton Stach. Graham Smyth claimed this week that Leeds wanted to sign Brazilian trio Igor Paixao, Rodrigo Muniz and Perri.

Perri has been seen boarding a plane to join Leeds. Not only is it reported that a deal should be confirmed at some point today or tomorrow, but others now claim that there is an acceptance Illan Meslier will leave.
