Daniel Farke has confirmed that a Leeds United player has requested to leave the club this summer, having chosen not to join the rest of his teammates in Germany.

Leeds flew into Germany ahead of the start of this week’s training camp over in Daniel Farke’s home country. The Whites will also play two behind-closed-doors friendlies, one of which was on Tuesday.

The other, takes place on Saturday. Adam Underwood has also travelled with the squad in order to remain in close communication with Farke regarding transfers, with Anton Stach’s arrival confirmed.

Stach is the club’s sixth signing and more are expected. But with signings, come outgoings and many are expected to leave. LeedsUnited.News predicts eight could still leave Leeds permanently this summer.

Daniel Farke confirms Leeds player has asked to leave the club

On Saturday, there were a handful of players missing. Isaac Schmidt has an injury, Patrick Bamford has been told he is not in Farke’s plans, while Brenden Aaronson is only expected to return on Tuesday.

Aaronson has been in action for the United States at the Gold Cup, reaching the final. Mateo Joseph, meanwhile, has chosen not to join Leeds in Germany despite Willy Gnonto also playing at the U21 Euros.

It suggested at the time that Joseph wanted to leave Leeds. Now, Farke has confirmed to The Athletic’s Beren Cross that Joseph has told Farke and Leeds that he wants to leave the club in the coming weeks.

Cross reported on X: “Daniel Farke says Mateo Joseph has asked for a transfer. Was expected to be in Germany, but has stayed on the UK.”

Who wants to sign Leeds man Mateo Joseph this summer?

Joseph has suitors. Real Betis have been strongly linked with Joseph, having had a bid rejected for him on deadline day in January. Betis have just signed Junior Firpo and boast Marc Roca and Diego Llorente.

On the weekend, it was claimed that Celta Vigo have joined the race for Joseph. It is believed Leeds are trying to bump up his price by holding an auction in order to raise funds for Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz.

Birmingham City have also been linked with Joseph, yet the newly-promoted Blues have landed a real coup in former Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi from Rennes. Joseph has played his last game for the club.
