Leeds United transfer rumours latest, including updates on James Debayo’s future, Illan Meslier’s situation, and Igor Paixao’s deal.
The transfer window has around five weeks remaining for the 49ers and Leeds United, who are continuing their excellent work in the market as more concrete transfer news emerges to add to their seven summer signings.
Only Burnley have been more active in the Premier League so far, but a busy summer still lies ahead at Leeds as Daniel Farke looks to improve several areas of the side, with the Leeds squad getting closer to completion ahead of the club’s return to the Premier League.
Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sean Longstaff, Anton Stach, and Lucas Perri have all become Leeds players in recent weeks, meaning they are making plenty of progress but more are still set to follow.
In the meantime, with vital weeks ahead for Farke and the recruitment team in pre-season ahead of Everton visiting Elland Road, here we have taken a look at some of the latest transfer news and the biggest headlines coming out of the club.

Illan Meslier issue arises following Lucas Perri signing
Lucas Perri has signed a four-year contract with Leeds and it should seal Illan Meslier’s exit, despite reports a few weeks ago that Meslier could stay at Elland Road into next season.
More recent updates suggest he is heading elsewhere, with Leeds reportedly offering Meslier to other clubs at one stage of the transfer window. However, it may not be so simple.
That’s because Meslier’s stock and his wages are the two issues for Leeds to now overcome to find a buying club in the final year of his Elland Road contract.

James Debayo leaves Leeds for more regular game time
James Debayo was a part of Farke’s pre-season plans a year ago but the centre-back did not sign a new deal with Leeds. Farke accidentally confirmed Debayo’s Leeds departure recently.
Only a month ago, it was stated that Debayo was ‘expected’ to extend his stay at Elland Road following confirmation that Debayo had a contract offer at Leeds on the table for a while.
The reason for his exit has since become clearer. The 20-year-old is searching for regular first-team football. Now, as we exclusively revealed, Debayo has Belgian and EFL interest.

Igor Paixao’s situation with Leeds pushing and Marseille stalling
It’s been known for some time that Leeds can offer Feyenoord more cash than Marseille for Igor Paixao. The Ligue 1 giants have seen their move for the Brazilian stall.
It was then claimed Paixao is “really close” to joining Leeds over the weekend, via Fabrizio Romano and sources at the Dutch end of the deal. Despite a £26 million initial offer for Paixao being rejected with add-ons.
It was then confirmed that Leeds offered £28 million plus add-ons for Paixao yesterday. However, a £30 million offer from Leeds for Paixao is now said to have secured the deal with Feyenoord. A final decision is imminent in the coming days.
