Leeds United have allowed the likes of Rasmus Kristensen, Max Wober, Junior Firpo, and Josuha Guilavogui to leave the club this summer.

The latter were both released after their Leeds United contracts expired, while Wober has been allowed on loan again, and Kristensen joined Eintracht Frankfurt in a permanent deal.

Joe Rothwell and Manor Solomon also saw their loan deals expire, meaning that Leeds came into the window with a depleted squad in many ways.

Patrick Bamford has been told he has no future at the club, but more exits are also expected between now and September’s transfer deadline, with Daniel Farke seemingly announcing another.

Daniel Farke’s reveal hints at James Debayo’s Leeds exit

Previously, it’s been claimed that 10 players could yet leave Leeds, but there were others entering contract talks at the end of last season without confirmation of whether they would remain.

Sam Byram penned another one-year deal, and Dan James has extended his stay until 2029, but James Debayo has had a contract offer at Leeds on the table for some time now, and looks like he has been released.

Victor Orta signed Debayo in 2021 from Watford’s academy, with Debayo part of pre-season plans a year ago, where he impressed Joe Rodon against Harrogate Town.

Only a month ago, it was stated that Debayo was ‘expected’ to extend his stay at Elland Road. However, Daniel Farke spoke post-match on Saturday and appeared to give away that it isn’t the case with the young centre-back.

He said: “Yes, we’re on a good path. That’s definitely for sure. Really good signings. Really good incomings.

“We have proven players, in a really good age, with top character. I think, character-wise, with everyone who will speak here, they will 100% confirm this that they fit into the group.

“We have, for example, replaced two centre-backs — Max Wober and James Debayo — with Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw.

“Proven players in top leagues and still in a really good age.”

It’s unclear where he will go next after he made just two senior appearances for Leeds, in spite of a further 23 unused substitute appearances last season in the Championship.

Joe Rodon explains James Debayo has a bright future

The consistency and availability of Rodon meant game time was hard for the 19-year-old to come by, but Rodon has been struck with Debayo’s maturity previously.

“Him being in the first-team is only going to benefit his game,” Rodon said back in March.

“Of course, he’s been limited to opportunities; but I think, when he’s had the chance, he’s done really well.

“He’s only going to grow and learn more. James is a calm head on a young boy’s shoulders.

“I’m sure he’ll have a bright future.”
