Leeds United excitement is starting to build as they close in on TSG 1899 Hoffenheim midfielder Anton Stach after weeks of talks.
Anton Stach is a powerful midfielder, capable of operating as a holding midfielder, but also as a centre-back or as more of a box-to-box midfielder. However, his nose for danger should benefit Leeds United most next term.
For some time now, personal terms with Stach and Leeds have been in place. It was then looking like a move was accelerating after Hoffenheim started looking at alternatives already.
Despite some late interest, VfB Stuttgart won’t sign Stach, meaning Leeds now have a free run at the German international this summer. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a £17.3 million plus add-ons fee for Stach has been agreed.

Leeds fans react to Fabrizio Romano’s Anton Stach update
The latest comes after Stach was left out of Hoffenheim’s matchday squad today, meaning it’s clear he is heading to Leeds this summer on a four-year contract.
It’s evident why Leeds fans are ‘moved’ at the idea of Stach, given his physicality but also his ability to carry the ball under pressure, and to defend wide spaces and support the full-backs.
He should raise the ceiling of this Leeds squad by a considerable margin, and it’s what numerous fans have already begun saying. One took to Twitter/X and said: “Bijol and Stach are the two that I am supremely confident of being two of our best signings and best players.
“They raise the ceiling of this squad so much. What a signing, Leeds. Keep ‘em coming now.”
Another added: “LUFC doing excellent business with Anton Stach. One of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga. Another giant. And fantastic stats for interceptions and duels. Leeds absolutely stacking the defence and midfield in preparation to build a brick wall of a defence.”
A further response read: “Stach is a perfect signing for a newly promoted club. Good on the ball but real upsides come out of possession. Massive ball winner but through elite defensive anticipation reading and understanding of which spaces to cover and engage in, not being super aggressive or reckless.”
Another stated: “Profile-wise, there aren’t an abundance of players like Anton Stach. He’s a high intelligence player, that’s an adept progressor of the ball (underrated), as well as being a ball-winning demon who performs a lot of efficient & athletic actions.”
It’s not a done deal yet, but a medical is all that is left for Leeds to complete one of their most impressive deals of the summer transfer window.

Where will Anton Stach rank among Leeds’ record signings?
Should Leeds seal a deal for Stach, he will be among their 10 most expensive signings ever. Using Transfermarkt’s valuations for sheer consistency, Stach will be in the joint-eighth in the rankings.
That places him above Raphinha, Jaka Bijol, and Helder Costa of recent years. However, there are some huge names above the defensive midfielder.
| Ranking | Player | Season | Fee (Euros) |
| 1 | Georginio Rutter | Winter 22/23 | 40.5m |
| 2 | Brenden Aaronson | Summer 22/23 | 32.84m |
| 3 | Rodrigo | Summer 20/21 | 30m |
| 4 | Dan James | Summer 21/22 | 29.1m |
| 5 | Rio Ferdinand | Summer 00/01 | 26m |
| 6 | Luis Sinisterra | Summer 22/23 | 25m |
| 7 | Jean-Kevin Augustin | Summer 20/21 (Jan loan) | 21m |
| 8 | Anton Stach | Summer 25/26 | 20m (with add-ons) |
| 9 | Diego Llorente | Summer 20/21 | 20m |
| 10 | Raphinha | Summer 20/21 | 18.6m |
It signifies the fact that he is yet another statement of intent in their current window, with more yet to come. It looks like being one of the best signings the club will make all summer, but time will tell how he performs on the pitch.
