Leeds United have not given up in their pursuit of Feyenoord’s Brazilian winger Igor Paixao, with Marseille also in the mix for his signature.
The 25-year-old is a serious target for Leeds United this summer, with Leeds linked to Paixao for a while now. However, other clubs are in the mix, including Arsenal links to Paixao at one stage.
An explosive left winger, Paixao would replace Manor Solomon for Leeds. Speaking of replacements, it appears as though Feyenoord have already sourced Paixao’s replacement as well.
Leeds are looking at securing the missing pieces of their attack for next season, following the signings of a number of deeper midfield players and out-and-out defenders. Lukas Nmecha is their only attacking addition thus far.

Marseille set for crunch talks regarding Leeds target Paixao
Not only have Leeds and Arsenal been linked, but Bayer Leverkusen have eyed Paixao as well. It’s also thought Aston Villa are keen on Paixao. However, it has been French giants Olympique Marseille with the strongest interest in Paixao.
Marseille looked close to striking an agreement recently but others believe Leeds have not given up on signing Paixao this summer just yet.
Paixao’s move to Marseille has stalled, with the coming days thought to be crucial in deciding where the Brazilian ends up this summer. Leeds are pushing for Paixao despite an injury concern.
The latest comes via Dutch journalist Mikos Gouka, who explains: “Regarding Igor Paixao and the French interest: there is (still) no deal, but a transfer has not been ruled out either.”
He adds: “Olympique Marseille, according to sources at the Kuip, plans to sit down today with a large delegation to discuss the arrival of the currently injured Brazilian.”
| Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2022/23 | 37 | 9 | 6 |
| 2023/24 | 45 | 12 | 4 |
| 2024/25 | 47 | 18 | 19 |
Even if Leeds or Marseille fail to secure a move, it’s clear that Paixao has a number of other suitors this summer. It’s unsurprising, given the 37 goal involvements the 25-year-old managed last term.

Leeds’ situation out wide amid interest in Paixao
Beren Cross believes Leeds have pitched to several wingers already this summer. The fortunate part about wide players is that Leeds have plenty of time in the market to source whoever that is, be it Paixao or an alternative from their shortlist.
Currently, their situation is that they have Willy Gnonto, Dan James, Largie Ramazani, and Jack Harrison. Many fans may well be concerned about that for a full season, but in the early few games of the Premier League campaign? It would be more than enough.
Each one is a viable player at this level, which is why Leeds have time on their side. The same cannot be said for a new goalkeeper, or striker, or perhaps even a more attack-minded central midfielder, however.
Leeds have plenty of work to do, with at least five more signings expected after Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach this summer to ensure the squad has the required quality and depth for the Premier League.
