Leeds United potential summer signing is ‘ready’ to join – but there’s a catch

Daniel Farke and Leeds United will be hoping the transfer market runs smoothly, but a lot depends on whether Premier League promotion is achieved.

It’s suddenly become an alarming factor to Farke and Leeds that promotion is far from secured.

The Whites will need to bounce back after the international break with a serious statement against Swansea City at Elland Road on Saturday.

There have been positive signs from the break as Joe Rodon has been impressing for Wales, along with Dan James.

However, despite positive news coming out of the transfer market, what this player wants from Leeds speaks volumes.

Nico Elvedi is ‘ready’ to join Leeds United but there is a catch

Nico Elvedi has been someone on Leeds’ transfer list for the summer, as Farke hopes to reunite with the 28-year-old.

The Swiss centre-back has been eyed by the Whites for some time as January seemed like a likely scenario but Elvedi joining Leeds in January was not possible.

Nevertheless, this deal could certainly happen in the upcoming window as Farke is a big fan of Elvedi.

The likelihood of the deal coming to fruition increases after what Ben Jacobs has told GIVEMESPORT, but Elvedi has one desire before anything is confirmed.

“As I revealed a couple of months ago, Nico Elvedi had crept onto Leeds’ radar,” Jacobs said.

“He’s another player that didn’t want to move in mid-season, and he feels that he’s ready for the Premier League rather than the Championship.

“And, although Elvedi is more of a centre-back, he’s a centre-back and a left-back and equally comfortable in both positions.

“Leeds could kill two birds with one stone there, and get a player capable of playing in more than one position.”

Elvedi should be a priority for Leeds this summer transfer window

It’s been clear from the get-go that Elvedi wants a reunion with the Leeds boss after their time at Gladbach.

No doubt it will be difficult for the defender to leave the German side as he is now enduring his tenth season with the club.

However, if anyone can lure the Swiss away from Gladbach it’s Farke, as it seemed like Leeds are in pole position to sign Elvedi.

With all the factors considered, this seems to be a nailed-on transfer that will happen at Elland Road, and the 49ers must make it a priority.
