The international break has seen plenty of Leeds United players hit the headlines this month, with five of the 16 players currently representing their countries finding the back of the net.

Sam Chambers, Mateo Joseph, Dan James, Diogo Monteiro and Rasmus Kristensen have all scored goals this month. Ao Tanaka helped Japan become the first nation to qualify for the 2026 World Cup next year.

Monday night sees more in action, even if Wilfried Gnonto has returned to Elland Road and will not play a part in Italy U21’s clash against Slovakia. It is said Gnonto has picked up a muscle injury while with Italy.

But not many have enjoyed the break as much as Kristensen, even if Denmark eventually lost to France over two legs in the Nations League quarter-finals. Winning the first leg 1-0, they lost after extra time.

Rasmus Kristensen almost went in goal for Denmark last night

Kristensen earned rave reviews for keeping Cristiano Ronaldo quiet last week in the first leg. He continued in the starting line-up on Sunday, as France forced extra-time with a 3-2 win – after Kristensen had scored.

Indeed, Danish media praised Kristensen again after netting his first Denmark goal. But France finally ran out 5-3 winners over two legs with two extra-time goals last night – with Kristensen nearly going in goal.

Denmark had made all their substitutions when Kasper Schmeichel went down with an injury and Leeds loanee Kristensen offered to don the gloves only for Schmeichel to play through the knock until full-time.

He told reporters after full-time, as per Bold: “That was if he couldn’t play on. We had to have someone in goal, because we didn’t have any more substitutions. I just said: ‘If you need one, I can come in,'” he said.

Which Leeds players are in action on Monday and Tuesday?

The international break is in the final stages with all of Leeds United’s players having played their second game or preparing to do so on Monday or Tuesday. Two are in action on Monday for their countries.

Monteiro scored on debut for Portugal’s U20 side last week and he will take on Germany tonight, while Darko Gyabi is with England’s U20 side and will face Switzerland on Monday night in Marbella.

On Tuesday, plenty are in action. Tanaka, Solomon, Dan James, Joe Rodon, Karl Darlow, Rory Mahady, Isaac Schmidt, Mateo Joseph, Charlie Crew and Junior Firpo will all play for their countries.
