Of the 16 players Leeds United currently have on international duty, there aren’t many that have enjoyed a better break than Rasmus Kristensen with Denmark’s National Team.
Leeds announced their list of international players but dropped a hint before the March break began. They didn’t include Kristensen’s name on their website, suggesting Kristensen will join loan side Frankfurt.
Kristensen himself has said while on Denmark duty that he wants to remain with Robin Koch’s Frankfurt beyond his loan. Indeed, reports say Frankfurt and Leeds have settled on a £5m fee for Kristensen.
Denmark beat Portugal in the first leg of their Nations League quarter-finals earlier in the week, winning 1-0. But on Sunday night, Portugal secured their place in the semi-finals with an extra-time 5-3 win.
Danish media rave about Rasmus Kristensen on Sunday night
Back in 2022-23 and his first season on the Leeds books, Kristensen was actually dropped from the Danish squad but right now, he seems to be one of the first names on the team sheet given his Frankfurt form.
On Sunday, he netted his first Denmark goal – heading in after being left completely unmarked from a Christian Eriksen corner. Danish fans voted Kristensen player of the match, with BOLD giving him 7/10.
“He had to crown the effort with a goal. His first in the national team jersey. Extremely reliable and looks like a very safe starter for Denmark in 2025. Acted maturely, got in the way of several things in defence.”
Rasmus Kristensen one of five Leeds players to score during break
Kristensen is almost at 99% to have played his last game for Leeds but while he remains on the books, he is still a Leeds player. One of five Leeds players to find the back of the net during the March break.
Diogo Monteiro scored for Portugal’s U20 side on debut, while Dan James netted the first of three goals as Craig Bellamy’s side came through past a possible banana skin in Kazakhstan in World Cup qualifying.
Elsewhere, Mateo Joseph and Sam Chambers have netted for Spain’s U21 side and Scotland’s U19’s in the break. A good couple of weeks for Leeds players, if your name is not Wilfried Gnonto after his injury.
