Israel secured a key 2-1 win over Estonia on Saturday night and Leeds United winger Manor Solomon was crucial to the win, supplying the match-defining assist to secure all three points.

Despite playing at a neutral venue, Solomon’s Israel needed to beat Estonia given it is one of the sides they will be expected to surpass in World Cup qualifying. This is one they needed to score some points.

But with the score deadlocked at 1-1, it was on-loan Tottenham man Solomon that provided the pivotal difference. Cutting inside from the left flank and facing his own goal, Solomon turned with massive pace.

He laid a gorgeous pass into the on-rushing Eli Dasa, who finished well from right-back. Israeli media described Solomon’s assist as “brilliant”, but it is not just the media that Solomon impressed on Saturday.

Manor Solomon’s Israel teammate wants him to join his club

Solomon is expected to join Leeds permanently if The Whites are promoted, with a fee in the region of £15m expected to land him from Spurs. But the likes of Everton and Southampton have also been linked.

What is unlikely, is a return to his home country to play his club football with Solomon still only 25. But, his Israel teammate and Beitar Jerusalem captain Yarden Shua has urged Solomon to return to Israel.

Not standing on ceremony, Shua went public by commenting on Solomon’s Instagram post and saying “Come to Beitar”. Perhaps tongue in cheek, knowing Solomon will not be leaving English football soon.

Daniel Farke will be delighted to see Manor Solomon notch assist

Solomon had been a bit unlucky of late. The Spurs star had failed to register a goal or assist in his last six matches, even if Joel Piroe should have scored his cut-back at Portsmouth, and creating a goal at QPR.

However, Morgan Fox’s own goal meant it was not registered as an assist. Farke will have been hoping that Solomon could get himself on the score sheet or nab an assist and he did just that against Estonia.

Solomon will be in action on Tuesday night against Erling Haaland’s Norway before returning to Thorp Arch ahead of Saturday’s clash against Swansea at Elland Road – the first of eight remaining matches.
