Leeds United are yet to make any serious movements in the transfer window but that could all be about to change, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs.
Adam Underwood has been thrown in at the deep end as the club’s new sporting director with The 49ers choosing to promote within, rather than hire a new man for the role from outside the Elland Road walls.
It is believed Leeds have set aside a £150m transfer kitty for new signings, and have identified four key positions that require strengthening. One of those is centre-back, and Leeds are set to move very soon.
Plenty of central defenders have been linked with a move to Leeds United this summer. Marseille captain Leonardo Balerdi, Bologna’s Colombian ace Jhon Lucumi and Porto star Otavio. Nico Elvedi, as well.

Ben Jacobs expects Leeds to bid for Nico Elvedi this week
Leeds have been strongly linked with a move for the Gladbach defender over the past 12 months. It would see Daniel Farke reunite with the Switzerland international having worked with him at Gladbach.
In January, it was claimed that Elvedi would prefer a move to Leeds over Wolves – if The Whites were in the Premier League. Now, they are and Ben Jacobs has told Last Word on Spurs that a bid is coming.
“Nico Elvedi is another name I hear for Leeds who can play left-back or left centre-back. That’s one I expect them to bid for in the coming days,” Jacobs said, with the 10-day window now fully open.

The high praise Daniel Farke has afforded Nico Elvedi in the past
Elvedi is about to enter the final year of his contract with Gladbach and if Leeds are to sign a centre-back, the chances are they are targeting left-footed ones. Joe Rodon starts, no matter what, next season.
But Max Wober could leave and Pascal Struijk is no stranger to injury. Leeds need a left-footed centre-back and Elvedi is that. Speaking while Gladbach manager, Farke said Elvedi is one of Europe’s best.
“Nico Elvedi is an absolute leader for us. When he is at his best, he is one of the best central defenders in Europe. He has proven that over the years,” Farke said about Elvedi, who could now end up at Leeds.
