The summer transfer window promises to be a busy one for Leeds United whether The Whites do end up getting promoted, or fall off a cliff and remain in the Championship.

Get promoted – which looks increasingly likely – and Leeds are expected to delve into the transfer market and make a number of new additions in order to give them the best chance of Premier League survival.

Phil Hay says Leeds are better-placed to survive under The 49ers compared to Andrea Radrizzani, given they will have more financial clout. In terms of Financial Fairplay, Leeds are well-placed after last summer.

But failure to go up and The Whites will have no choice but to sanction a firesale. Parachute payments will reduce from 45% to 20%. One player though, is set to go whatever division Leeds are in next season.

Max Wober will be sold by Leeds United in the summer

That is as per Graeme Bailey, who has told LeedsUnited.News that Wober will leave with Bundesliga clubs interested. Austria ace Wober was on loan at Gladbach during the 2024-25 season before returning.

The former Salzburg man has managed just seven appearances this season. Injury has played a part but Wober has also remained an unused sub in 13 of Leeds’ 34 Championship games throughout 2024-25.

Reports from Austria this week say that the relationship between Wober and Farke is “tense”, with Farke still remembering his decision to leave last summer for Gladbach, jumping ship at the first opportunity.

Why Max Wober will be desperate to leave Leeds this summer

When £10m Wober’s move to Gladbach on loan was confirmed, the defender attempted to explain his decision to Leeds fans. Wober said he wanted to assure his Euro 2024 spot and needed top-tier football.

This time around, the reports state that Wober is keen to get game time in order to secure his place at the 2026 World Cup. His desire to be a regular with Austria is impacting his future at club level, it seems.

Peter Linden’s report states that Gladbach did not want to pay Leeds’ asking price of £12.5m last summer. This time around, Leeds are willing to accept bids of just £6.5m and that may just entice Gladbach.
