It’s January transfer window deadline day but Leeds United are yet to make any moves.

Leeds United have not had a busy transfer window even though they have seen Championship title rivals Burnley and Sheffield United strengthen considerably.

The Clarets have pulled off the coup of the window by signing Marcus Edwards on loan while the Blades are looking to add even more additions as the 11 pm deadline looms.

Though Daniel Farke is happy with his squad, Leeds are still looking to make one signing on deadline day in the form of a striker.

Here is the latest news on Leeds’ deadline day activity.

The player looking most likely to join Leeds on deadline day is Cameron Archer from Southampton.

The Whites’ interest in Archer emerged last week when a loan offer was rejected but it was understood the club would continue pushing for the striker.

Reports from earlier on deadline day suggested Leeds were in the ‘box seat’ for Archer over the likes of Sunderland and Burnley.

However, a potential blow in Leeds’ Archer pursuit may come if Adam Armstrong leaves St. Mary’s.

Armstrong, another forward, has also been linked with a loan exit and if he departs then Southampton may be less likely to allow Archer to leave as well.

There is hope, though, given Saints are closing in on signing striker Victor Udoh and have also been linked with a move for former player Danny Ings, with West Ham having signed Evan Ferguson.

It remains up in the air in the remaining hours.

As well as Middlesbrough and Sunderland, Leeds have also been linked with Armstrong.

The forward is another player with loads of goal-scoring pedigree in the Championship and Farke has praised him in the past.

Leeds also have a former teammate of Armstrong’s in Joe Rothwell, which could potentially help any pursuit.

However, the latest report from Graham Smyth says Leeds won’t be signing him ‘as things stand.’

One last chance to sign James McAtee from Manchester City?

Leeds have long been one of the many clubs interested in taking Manchester City starlet James McAtee on loan.

After two successful years on loan at Sheffield United, McAtee stayed at City last summer to fight for a place in Pep Guardiola’s side.

Despite City’s struggles, McAtee has still seen his game time limited, leading to speculation he could departrt in January.

A switch has looked unlikely as Guardiola wants to keep him, however, The Telegraph reports that it’s ‘not beyond the realms of possibility that something develops late’, giving Leeds one last potential chance to sign McAtee.

Leeds were interested in adding to their defence earlier in the transfer window but when Pascal Struijk’s injury wasn’t as bad as feared there was less need to do so.

Yet, they had previously been linked with Sporting’s Dario Essugo, who has shone on loan at Las Palmas in La Liga this season.

However, reports now claim that Chelsea have come in with a massive £17m bid and Essugo looks Stamford Bridge bound.
