While Leeds United seem to remain inactive on deadline day, the club’s promotion rivals are doing plenty of business in a bid to catch Daniel Farke’s side come May.
Despite allowing Joe Gelhardt, Luca Thomas and Charlie Crew to leave on loan while also confirming the permanent exit of Sonny Perkins to Leyton Orient, Leeds are yet to announce any incoming signings.
Cameron Archer looks the most-likely candidate on deadline day. Southampton are set to sign Victor Udoh from Royal Antwerp and that aids Leeds’ move to land England U21 ace Archer on deadline day.
But Sunderland are closing in on a loan move for Jayden Danns from Liverpool, while Sheffield United have eyes on a number of central defenders including Japhet Tanganga after making four new signings.

Leeds fans stunned as Burnley announce Marcus Edwards signing
But arguably the signing of the window at Championship level is Burnley securing a loan deal for Sporting Lisbon talent Marcus Edwards. A player Mauricio Pochettino once likened to Lionel Messi on Sky Sports.
Edwards failed to make it alongside Scott Parker at Tottenham. But, at Sporting Lisbon, Edwards has been on fire – having a hand in 50 goals in 120 games including two goals on the Champions League stage.
Burnley have announced the loan signing of Edwards until the end of the season in what is a real coup from Leeds’ promotion rivals. The addition of Edwards has left Leeds supporters concerned on X.
Leeds are also in the market for a no.10 and while Edwards is predominantly a winger, he can play behind the striker. One Whites supporter described Edwards as a “game changer” and a “ridiculous” signing.
Another fan replied with a picture of Jesse Marsch pointing to his watch, captioned with “Archer time”. The work of Leeds’ promotion rivals is clearly leaving some Elland Road supporters impatient today.
One Leeds fan listed Sheffield United signing Ben Brereton Diaz, Burnley landing Edwards and then Enzo Le Fee going to Sunderland before placing a sleep emoji next to Leeds. It is clear, fans want a signing.
Marcus Edwards makes Burnley promotion claim after arrival
Leeds now sit five points clear of Burnley, after Parker’s men only managed a 0-0 draw at Portsmouth on the weekend. The Whites meanwhile, smashed Cardiff to win 7-0 and strengthen their place at the top.
But, Leeds’ rivals are improving and strengthening. Just 16 games to go, and Leeds are well-positioned but Edwards is hell-bent on promotion and told Burnley’s website that he wants to achieve at Turf Moor.
“The main thing now is to get promoted back to the Premier League. I hope we can make it over the line this season and I hope Burnley fans will enjoy watching me play too,” Edwards said, on promotion.
Luckily for Leeds, The Whites have already faced Burnley twice this season. But on paper, Edwards could make a real difference in pushing The Clarets towards automatic promotion in the remaining 16 games.
