It seems to be a bit of a quiet deadline day at Leeds United at least to begin with, but that is not the case at promotion rivals Sheffield United with the Blades desperate to sign a defender.
Leeds seem to have focused all of their efforts into signing Cameron Archer. Other names linked with the club seem to lack any kind of substance, with a move for Chelsea’s Marc Guiu already being ruled out.
The Whites are well-stocked in most positions, apart from the no.10 role and up top. Brenden Aaronson remains the only option in the 10 role, while Joe Gelhardt has left and Patrick Bamford is injured up top.
However, there seems to be little action coming out from Leeds. Over at Chris Wilder’s second-placed Sheffield United, there is plenty happening with focus from the Blades now on signing a new centre-back.

Sheffield United eye move for Millwall star Japhet Tanganga
The Blades have brought in Tom Cannon, Ben Brereton Diaz, Harry Clarke and Hamza Choudhury but are yet to sign a centre-back. That’s despite Harry Souttar suffering a season-ending achilles issue last month.
Football League expert Darren Witcoop now reports that Sheffield United have a number of targets lined-up to replace Souttar. A priority of which includes Millwall defender Japhet Tanganga on deadline day.
He said on X: “Sheffield United pushing to sign a new centre-half with Millwall’s Japhet Tanganga and QPR’s Jimmy Dunne their top targets. Appears Harry Darling will be staying put at Swansea…for now.”
Japhet Tanganga scored winner against Leeds in November
The former Tottenham defender has been a revelation for Millwall since completing a permanent move after an initial loan at The Den. An England U21 international, it was a coup when Millwall signed him.
Little surprise then, that he is now being linked with a bigger club. Wilder wants him at Bramall Lane but with less than 12 hours to run in the transfer window, time is against Sheffield United’s side in pursuit.
Leeds have only lost four of their 32 games in all competitions, three of which came in the Championship. One came at Millwall, with Tanganga scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win under Neil Harris.
Having already struck a dagger in the side of Leeds, Tanganga could now be tasked with helping Sheffield United go one better and pipping Leeds to promotion come the end of the Championship campaign.
