Connor Roberts is finally set to become Leeds United’s first signing of the transfer window.

Leeds reached an agreement with Burnley over a straight loan earlier today, with the 28-year-old on his way to West Yorkshire to undergo a medical ahead of putting pen-to-paper.

Roberts is a player who has been linked with Leeds throughout the last month, almost ever since Djed Spence was sent back to Tottenham Hotspur early from his respective loan.

The 28-year-old is set to become the fourth Wales international in Daniel Farke’s squad, with Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Dan James all already at the club, and making huge impacts.

Both Rodon and James played alongside Roberts during their time together at Swansea City, and the former’s brother Sam has wasted no time on Twitter welcoming him to the club.

He wrote: “Hi pal, what’s happening, what you up to today? Fancy a coffee? @ConnorRobs.”

This is just yet more evidence that a deal for Roberts to move to Leeds is close, in what will be a hugely welcome addition to supporters given the shortage at right-back.

As mentioned, Roberts is very familiar with Rodon from their days at Swansea, and the two are also said to share an excellent relationship both on and off the pitch.

Ever since Leeds’ interest in Roberts became apparent at the start of the window, it was reported that he would be keen on making the move, with his Wales international teammates likely to be a big factor.

Roberts will be lining directly up alongside Rodon in defence if and when a deal does go through, and hopefully that chemistry will be able to be seen on the pitch.
