‘It’s vital’… Danny Mills orders Leeds United to pay £7m for player that can help win promotion

Leeds United are locked in talks to sign a rival club’s player and Danny Mills has urged his old side to get a deal done and pay a huge £7m to land the player’s signature.

The Whites are expected to be in the market for new players having waved goodbye to so many over the last few weeks. Glen Kamara is about to join five other players that have been sold by Leeds already.

Finnish ace Kamara is off to Rennes, while Everton are in talks for Wilfried Gnonto. These exits, as well as the five that have gone on loan and the many that saw their contract expire, leaves Leeds looking bare.

Especially, on the right side of the defence. Mills’ old position was filled by Archie Gray for much of last term, but he’s gone to Tottenham. Connor Roberts is back at Burnley after a loan from January onwards.

Danny Mills orders Leeds to pay £7m asking price for defender

Jamie Shackleton and Luke Ayling have left permanently on frees to Championship rivals Sheffield United and Middlesbrough. Leeds then need a right-back, and on their radar is one of Shackleton’s teammates.

Leeds are said to have seen two offers for Jayden Bogle rejected already, with Chris Wilder’s side wanting £7m for the 23-year-old ace. It is unclear how far away Leeds were from the Blades asking price for him.

Mills has told Football League World that Leeds should pay the price tag for the defender: “Absolutely [Leeds should sign Bogle]. He has good potential and this can be a good signing for Leeds United.

“With others potentially departing, recruitment is key. It’s vital Leeds strengthen as they must start the season better than last year. £7m is a small price to pay if he can help the squad to promotion this year.”

What Jayden Bogle and his agents feel about Leeds move

Obviously, a move to Leeds would see Bogle go from one Championship heavyweight to another. At this moment in time in terms of league position, it is a bit of a sideways move for the defender this summer.

But it would offer Bogle security, with his Blades deal ending in 2025. Leeds are slight favourites to win promotion ahead of Sheffield United next season and that may just tempt Bogle to relocate to Leeds.

Bogle is actually said to be happy at Bramall Lane and is not pushing for a move, but he is aware that his agents could benefit financially and indeed, his entourage are thought to be keen on a deal.
