Glen Kamara is about to complete a permanent exit at Leeds United and join French side Rennes on a permanent basis, and Leeds feel they may already have his replacement at Elland Road.
Kamara, 28, only joined Leeds from Rangers last summer for a fee of £5m. The 59-time Finland ace went on to have a brilliant season at Elland Road, proving to be a key part of Daniel Farke’s side in 2023-24.
Kamara is set to undergo a medical at Stade Rennais today, with Nancy Froston saying on The Athletic’s website that The 49ers are expected to nearly double their initial outlay on the Arsenal academy product.
The exit of Kamara has come as a bit of a surprise, given he only joined a year ago and played such an important role at Leeds last season. So much so, that fans will be expecting the club to replace Kamara.

Leeds feel they could already have Kamara replacement
But Froston also reports on The Athletic’s site that Leeds feel they have their replacement at Elland Road already, in the form of new signing Joe Rothwell who has joined the club on loan from Bournemouth.
Rothwell spent the second half of last season at Southampton, but was an unused sub in the play-off final at Wembley. He is deemed as more of an attacking midfielder than Kamara, given his ability to score.
Leeds are said to feel that instead of signing a replacement for Kamara and reimbursing the funds gained from Kamara’s sale, Rothwell is that man. It will be interesting to see if Leeds do try to sign a replacement.

Other reports suggest Leeds could try to sign Tottenham man
In talks that saw Archie Gray join Tottenham, Leeds attempted to strike a deal to reunite Daniel Farke with Oliver Skipp. The England U21 midfielder did not join however, with Spurs rejecting a move to Leeds.
However, that has not deterred Leeds and amid Kamara’s imminent move to France, Skipp is being eyed as a possible replacement for Kamara. Indeed, Leeds feel that a loan-to-buy deal could tempt Spurs.
If the cash for Kamara is not used on a midfield replacement, then the chances are Leeds will use it to bring in additions elsewhere. Right-back, left-back and new wingers could be prioritised by The Whites.
