Aston Villa have made an enquiry to sign Leeds United player this summer but move is now off

Leeds United’s summer fire sale is showing no signs of slowing down with Glen Kamara set for a move to France, while Aston Villa have made an enquiry for one of Daniel Farke’s key players.

Kamara is the latest player set to depart Leeds with a medical taking place for the Finland star at Rennes today. The 28-year-old star only joined Leeds last year but he is set for the top tier of French football.

He joins a list of five others who have been sold by Leeds, namely Archie Gray, Kris Klaesson, Charlie Cresswell, Marc Roca and Diego Llorente. The Whites have raked in north of £60m from the six sales.

But that may soon exceed £80m with Wilfried Gnonto the next sale expected at Elland Road. His agents expect Gnonto will be leaving Leeds in the coming weeks, as Everton open talks to sign the winger.

Newcastle are also keen on signing Gnonto, with Everton confident a fee of £22m will be enough to tempt Leeds into a sale this summer. Planet Sport claim another Premier League side have shown interest.

Indeed, Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are said to have made a ‘soft enquiry’ to sign the Italy star earlier in the window. However, that since faded especially with Villa closing in on a move for Hull’s Jaden Philogene.

Villa are in need of wingers this summer as they look to bring in competition for Morgan Rogers and Leon Bailey ahead of a Champions League campaign, but it looks unlikely they will reignite interest in Gnonto.

Who else could join Gnonto in leaving Leeds this summer?

So Gnonto looks as if he could be on his way with Everton leading the charge. But plenty of other Leeds players have been linked with the exit door ahead of the club’s opener against Portsmouth in 25 days.

Illan Meslier, Junior Firpo, Ilia Gruev, Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe are all the subject of interest. Firpo is being linked with Betis, who have signed Roca and Llorente.

Plenty more could join Kamara and Gnonto in leaving Leeds and the chances are if Gnonto does go, his best mate Summerville will be more inclined to depart. If that is the case, Leeds need some new signings.
